Humbug to the Dover Express!
Once again we seemed to have furnished almost the entire contents of the
Dubris Column and once again without them saying where they got any of the gems. They have used two columns to make direct quotes from our Doverforum frontpage distinctly giving the impression they were at the flag raising event for Armed Forces Day, when they were clearly not.
They have gone on to quote my " a man of outdoor appearance who may or may not have the look of an imbiber" line under.." one observer said". This was when I referred to the one member of the public who turned up. Then they have quoted Howard re his " Sue was well and truly rogered" line from Comments....and all this under the guise of overheard at the event kind of thing. This is not so general public, they lifted it all off here without a credit as to where they are getting the stuff.
The last time I looked I didnt have a contract to write for the Dover Express. Using our stuff is only acceptable if they credit the source. Otherwise leave our content alone guys.... get your own quotes. One is not amused.
On the other hand
YOUR DOVER used our thread/feature about the wheelie bins but credited where they got it
which gets a thumbsup.PB
The picture shows Sue Nicholas being escorted by the two Rogers, Roger Walkden and Roger Frayne, so as was said by Howard in the Comments section, "she was well and truly rogered". A tad rude its true but taken in good spirits hopefully.
Seafrance Not Amused:
You will not be surprised to hear that Seafrance were regally 'not amused' by the item below with the unfortunate pictures, which as you can see shows one of their splendid ships spewing forth in a rather big way. This response is of course very understandable in these hugely 'green' conscious times. They were also unhappy at the LD Lines press release which you can see amongst the
comments below. So they have contacted me through their PR wing to correct any false impression that these items may give. As a responsible company they take these things very seriously, so in the interests of fairness and balance and without further ado, I will add a section of their email to me, which they have cleared for publication.....PB
Comments below from Sara Whines, Seafrance Public Relations Manager......
"
Firstly, with regards to Dover's beaches, SeaFrance takes its responsibility very seriously. It sponsors the Marine Conservation Society and has raised over £230,000 for them. Its staff are also regularly involved in the beach cleaning project at Kingsdown Beach and are really keen to do their bit. It therefore seems a little unfair to put up a photo of the SeaFrance Rodin and not make mention of this.
You have also posted a very misleading LD Lines press release as a comment. The CFDT is not a SeaFrance union - it is a general French worker's union and has members from all kinds of companies (just like the RMT here) who participated in the protest. SeaFrance does not in any way condone the actions of the CFDT union.
" end.
Just a further note from myself PB..the LD Lines press release was published in the 'comments' rather than the 'editorial' because I felt the item would need to be counterbalanced in the interest of fairness...so not having the staff or manpower to always do this, it was felt placing it amongst the comments in this case was the fairest option.
Beach Cleaner 8am June 30: Yes indeed here we have it...conclusive proof that the beach does indeed get cleaned. This little man and his sack was down on that section of beach nearest the docks this very morning, and doing his duty in fine style . It's a sad tale isnt it though. Once that great mass of unwashed citizenry moves inland after a day on the beach, vast quantities of coke bottles, KFC chipwrappings, crisp packets and so on ad infinitum, are left to fester and ferment away in the blazing heat of a hot tropical summer here in downtown Dover. Not a pretty sight as you can imagine. And of course the seagulls make it even worse. But of course the cleanliness thing is hard to keep on top of, as no one at all pays much attention to the proliferation of litter bins.
Seafrance Spews Forth!
Remember good citizens of Dover, dont go breathing now will you, not down along the seafront anyway. As we already seem to have the second worst beach in the UK, according to a recent poll, these glorious images wont help matters, as they show the raw unadulterated ungodly emmission coming from the very new Seafrance Rodin...this is not to be sniffed at, in fact not to be sniffed at or whiffed inwards at all, not in any way shape or form, not if you know whats good for your lungs.
So while you lie there on the second worst beach in the UK, dont whatever you do...breathe.
