It is the Mary Ann Brewey and very nice it is too. There is a very nice old fashioned local pub just a short walk from where we live so nipping for a quick pint at the end of the day is very enjoyable. At the moment there is a Tennerfest.
117 pubs and restaurants are participating where you can have an excellent 3 course meal for £10 to a max of £17.50. The radio was advising diners to book as tables were booked solid. It brings life to all the restaurants and pubs in the quiet season leading up to Christmas.
I took Marites out for lunch to a nice country inn in the middle of the island. We ordered homemade soup and mary ann beer battered fish and chips £10 per head.By the time we left about an hour or so later 46 people had entered the pub and ordered food.It was a great atomsphere. The whole island appears to be involved in it.People still love a bargain and it keeps the pubs going.

19:2930207I heard about this a while ago and from what I was told it is a "body" that organises these tennerfests.
I did think of trying to organise one myself for Dover, but felt it would have been a hell of a job to get places like the Allotment or Cullens Yard to agree to those prices; Cullens Yard told me to go forth and multiply when I did the Discover Dover leaflet, so I don't feel inclined to involve them in any future initiatives anyway.
It would get a lot more people out and in the pub-restaurants, restaurants etc. though I'm sure.

19:3630209that does not sourprise me about the latter establishment.
interestingly the hungarian restaurant can do a decent lunch for a fiver, and the upmarket restaurant that preceded them managed to do a ten quid menu, if my memory is correct.
excellent grub it was too.

20:4230218Cullens Yard have just sent me a voucher for some money off, by email. Before I had even had time to open it another email came informing me that, in the interests of clarity, he wanted to make sure I realied it was for after 6pm and a full meal, and 25% discount - presumably in case I tried to save too much money. I don't think I will bother......................

07:3830231He didn't want to offer a 10% discount a year ago so wouldn't join the Loyalty Scheme (FRO springs to mind) - how times have changed.
