30 September 2016 21:40318483With the 'no Right Turn' restrictions at what was the York Street ruindabout and the reduction to a single left hand lane on Townwall Street I have just witnessed the aftermath of two accidents (collisions) between lorry and car at the Woolcomber Street junction on two consecutive days.
Drivers of LHD hgv's coming from the Port are obviously finding difficulty in seeing smaller vehicles to their right at this junction, especially now that traffic flow has increased here due to the aforementioned restrictions at York Street.
I am not in a position to say who is at fault, but accidents speak for themselves.
Dover residents want to be able to move around the Town without undue hinderance or delay. HGV drivers just want to get on with their work without being snarled up in traffic accidents that block their route out of Town.

[U]DOVER - A20 Improvement Works Scheduled Night Closures York Street: 17th/18th November and 21st – 25th November
As the works on the A20 continue the York Street junction is progressing well, allowing the next scheduled phase of works to be undertaken. This phase of planned activities comprises of vital surfacing and associated works essential to complete the new junction within programme. These planned works will be carried out during night closures to ensure there is minimal disruption to the local community and the town’s traffic entering the area.
Due to the complexity of the work several night closures will be necessary. Timings for the night closures will be from 21:00 to 05:00 hours and the closures are scheduled for the following dates:
Thursday 17th November and Friday 18th November
Monday 21st November – Friday 25th November inclusive[/U]

6 January 2017 22:04323210New signage being put in place today on Townwall Street. York Street roundabout turns into York Street Junction incorporating a right turn onto York Street that was quickly covered up for the time being.
Good to see De Bradelei Wharf is featured although directions to our Town Centre (North) & Priory Station have been omitted.

7 January 2017 13:40323241As reported in Kentonline article #27 above - would someone care to enlighten residents living on the south side of the A20 just how access between seafront and town will be "improved".
If anything, with work due on the new lock cut into Wellington Dock, it will cut down access to just Wellesley Road and the limited width entrance/exit by the Premier Inn. These works have been designed for one purpose, to get traffic into the port and back out onto the M20 as smoothly as possible. 7 January 2017 18:56323272Jack is right. Dover Town Centre (North) & Priory Station does not exist for A20 westbound users.
There will probably be signage from the Docks into the St. James Retail Park (when it is finished 'on time').
