20:188135At first I thought it was the council massing on top of Burlington House, preparing to throw themselves off after hearing that the recession had put paid to the great DTIZ redevelopment plans. On closer inspection, it transpired to be the Fire Brigade, or similar, practicing abseiling.

23:578149Brian, I think I would trust the ropes more than that building.

18:338188Very interesting pictures Ed well done with those. I think Chris might be right..the ropes might be safer than the building as I remember the way chunks of concrete used to fall off it at one time. ..thundering haplessly down onto Townwall St. Whoops there goes another one! The ropes no doubt will be of Mount Everest quality so should be pretty safe. But yes its a brave geezer that tries that for an afternoons entertainment...and of course many do. Its a good way come to think of it, of exiting from the Gateway's 9th floor at a full pelt, without resorting to the very ordinary lift. Shoks awaaaaaaaay!!

18:428189One could say the buildings not standing idle then its being used for something.
Hope health and safety were close to hand.

17:008339Believe it or not I have no head for heights but I've always wanted to absail (go figure!) Maybe I should start with something smaller though!

17:198341I am petrified of heights and I have absailed, even stepped out of an airplane once, in the past so I can understand. Advancing years just make me a little bit more circumspect about these things, and very nervous when I recall some of the daft things I climbed when I was younger.
