15:2088180Gosh, this looks a jolly place. The "Fleur-De-Lys" in Delph Street Sandwich. Taken from an old Pikes.
They don't make pubs like that anymore.

17:2088199A lovely picture there Terry, though lacking the architecture of yours and mine favourite pub. The old picture posting`s seem to have dried up somewhat.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

18:0188218Yes Colin, it's a bit like the back streets of North Shields, "When the Boat Comes In" and all that.

18:1688220What a lovely old picture of the Fleur de Lis, Sandwich. This inn has a long history.

19:3788250What was the name of the other pub next to the sadly missed old indoor market in Kath's picture?

20:4388270all fascinating pictures, the kings hall looks not different today.
i hope the new owners are as fastidious in keeping it that way as the present one.

08:0888308Forgive me as I'm a new-comer, but was the old indoor market, what is now the Museum and the Regent is to the right of it ?
What was the building to the right of the Regent, where the WCE was built and is now the Discovery Centre ?

08:2988309Not sure what was immediately to the right Roger but the large building was Warren and Reynolds, a food wholesaler, the Bookers of today.

10:3388312That was the bank. The Old Prince Regent, the home of the Saturday night fights, and I have been in afew of them
there in the 1960s right next to that was a small office that Star Taxis had,I was a part-time driver for them. But never on a Saturday night. In the 1950s and 1960s the Elephant, and Hind was two pubs.

10:5388315In light of the comments about the Prince Regent whose reputation I had forgotten I should explain we were not regulars and I do not remember ever having a drink in there. Pete would have a quick half while waiting for me as he hated shopping then we would pop down to the Crypt for a couple of drinks prior to getting the bus home.
