09:1911794At the end of the day I have no Idea like everyone else posting on here its all speculation
he will go when he and the country are ready and when its best for the country.
Also When Roger Barryw come out from the rose tinted glasses you may realise what the electorate are saying
they still DONT trust the conservatives!
You can believe it or go on slagging off the Govt, but once again when the general election called and barryw/rogers lot lose again, the will then blame the electorate for not voting correctly!
seen it all before the last 3 general elections

09:4811808Trouble is Barryw same tune comes from you, and whether it was last 2 generakl elections or 3 is not the point, he point is that we have heard it all before.
Lets look at it in a logic way, all that has gone on in Dover on past years Gwyn should have(and you said he would)have lost last 2 or 3 elections. he didn't.
Here we are again with you saying the same thing, and again its unlikely the conservativs will get a majority or gwyn lose his seat.
So whilst you might like posting to yorself, once its all over and Labour gets i again and Gwyn i'm sure it will be evryone elses fault

09:5311811Keith - I may have been over optimistic, at least in public, in the past but that does not obscure the present reality.

09:5511812And I fully realise whats going on out there, and how desperate you are.
Its like the forum has always said
You will always want a conservative govt
I will always want a labour Govt
But its the people thankfully that will decide ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

12:2011839Pity very few have really commented on the essence of the quotation. Rather we have the same personalised punts at one another.
Marek , I concede to your quotations.
Was Cicero right?
Was part of it or all of it right?

cicero wanted to cut assistance to foreign lands.
the foreign lands were making rome rich, much as any overseas aid today is aimed at countries where we will take back much more.
this could take the form of giving help to our military, earning contracts for uk companies, buying arms etc etc

16:1011868Which takes us nicely into the heart of the quotation about curtailing the arrogance of officials. The key, remembering that each and every one (these days) are elected by the residents to represent the residents and not to represent party or outside interests first. In Cicero's time it was more a case of representing the interests of the traditional ruling families who bestowed the virtually un-elected offices in order to balance their own interests.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

18:4711883Paul poor Howard cycling as I do sometimes to the Palace at Whitfield, and we have no cycle allowance, but to be fair if we ask for one we may get it,anyway Howard you get a bus pass,I have to pay and then claim it back.Ever fancied standing in Tower Hamlets?
We could do with someone left wing,as I must be slipping because Paul knows me by my first name.Actually there is a funny story there, which even in the Council Chamber can happen. So I will tell it.
During Paul's speech he was talking about the work being done at the Priory Station and he looked over to me and said Cllr .......and he couldn't remember my name will be intersted to hear, then later on Gordon Cowan in reply said Paul Watkins is leader of KCC of course it is Paul Carter,so later on Paul came upto me and apologised for not remembering my name....I said that's o.k. Mr Carter.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

once i get it back from barry, of course.
i am referring to loadsa money barry as opposed to posh barry.
