not very patriotic sid!!
i have no time for manure, chelski or the arsenal, but we are now left wit no-one in the semis.
however they represent us.
the last 3 years have seen 3 english clubs in the last four.
True Howard, but how many Englishmen play for those three teams? One for Arsenal sometimes, 4 for Chelski sometimes and 3 or 4 for Salford United sometimes. I can't get too excited I'm afraid.

not that iwould support a forign team or adolf hitler invading poland or any where else, but now very happy to see fergie absolutly peed off by nof advancing to the semis.shame they played loony shrek to early it may put his world cup place in doubt [cheers loudly] but english clubs cant be allways dominant in these big cup games,it will do the english clubs a favor as to freeing them up to consertrait on the domestic games.

Loved your reply.
Of course there are more Man Utd fans outside of Manchester ..about 7 million in the Far East alone.A tremendous export item that we all should be very proud of..an English club which is known and loved worldwide. Why can't we wallow (sp?) in their glory.
As for the Australians and visas if you recall I posted not so long ago on this subject and stated that we should have reciprocal visa agreements with these countries..ie all non EU countries should require a visa to enter the UK .This would allow visa, pnc, arab warning list and terrorist checks to be made before visitors reach our borders.
As for the 'bone idle'..The Govt have today stated that they intend to introduce a scheme that will make it more difficult for school leavers to go straight on the dole without first undergoing some form of training, further education, community work or even a boot type camp.I agree with your comments and here in Jersey one is not allowed to claim unemployment benefit unless one has worked for at least 6 months previously and one can show that the position was not relinquished voluntary or one was dismissed for some type of wrongdoing. Basically the firm would have to go bust.
As for your paragraph on hi-jackers.I agree but we have a firm but fair justice system that is sometimes abused by our own lawyers and barristers.
Finally to address your Manscum para'...Man Utd play a greater number of homegrown talent than any other Premier League side..Rooney,Giggs,Scholes,Ferdinand,Evans,Fletcher,O'Shea to mention but a few plus the all time greats of Best,Charlton,Law,Robson and Stiles all came from their very well established youth policy. I appreciate its hip to knock Man Utd and its followers but they are one of the very few successes that this country can feel proud of and boast about.I bet even in your old hometown of Lagos there was a Man U supporters club...So come on be fair and wave a flag for United next time they take on the might of Europe.

May we have a thread for "Anything except politics and football"?
This could end up like one of those memory games - "I went shopping for some apples." "I went shopping for some apples and a fish." "I went shopping for some apples, a fish, and some tomatores." etc
Maybe we ought to canvas the members - perhaps we also need a thred for "Anything except politics, football, and religion" .....Hey, if we keep this up with the thread-title, we could even get into the Guinness Book of Records for longest ever forum thread title!
Or .. we'll maybe end up with no threads we can post in at all!

Hi Marek, pleased you enjoyed my riposte! However, I am now feeling very subdued having been unceremoniously over-censored. I have no problem with Wops, dagos, spics, eyties, krauts etc., being removed, but the paragraph about Afghan hijackers, really!
Howard, was it not possible to just (*) out the offending words? Not having a go, just asking.
No big ManU following in Lagos Marek, mostly Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. There are a few more Dover followers there now too!

sid and marek.
i realise that it was banter between you, but so many people look in at the forum, for the sole purpose of catching someone out.
ask roger!!
in this case, especially during the run up to an election, an unscrupulous individual would blast us all for being racists.
anyway back to post 22, regarding overseas players playing for english clubs, most of the top clubs in europe have a broad mixture of natiionalities.
i still think of bayern being a german club even with their best player being frank ribery.

One of the Milan teams, I can't remember which, played a game a couple of months ago against an English club and there were no Italians at all in the side. We are not the only country to have "johnny foreigners" playing in our teams.

certain players are the difference between doing alright or being very successful, ask the arsenal fans after tuesday night.
wayne rooney is acknowledged as our very best player, some say the best player in the world.
surely we would have no chance of winning or reaching the final in south africa without him?

Rooney the best player in the world? Better than Messi? Surely not!
True friends stab you in the front.

i don't think so, but many players are saying so.
he is certainly a much better player since he stopped doing the fetching and carrying for ronaldo.
messi must be due for a barren spell, happens to the very best, then rooney will be feted again.
others will say frank ribery of bayern and france, i have to say that all of the goals i have seen him score seem to involve him making something out of nothing.
