00:3840384I'd almost forgotten about this thread as it was dropping off the bottom of my computer screen - in spite of the stalwart efforts of Colin.
My only addition to the thread is one I give to pupils who describe Mathematics as 'boring'.
'If you think this is boring just wait until you are stuck in a dead end job because you did not have GCSE Mathematics, this lesson is for an hour, the alternative is for forty years minimum'

11:5540394Thought you might like to see the Wikipedia entry for boredom:
Boredom is an emotional state experienced during periods lacking activity or when individuals are uninterested in the opportunities surrounding them. The first record of the word boredom is in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens, written in 1852, in which it appears six times, although the expression to be a bore had been used in the sense of "to be tiresome or dull" since 1768.

03:1440530Perhaps for the coming election`s, someone may wish to start the Public toilet party, or the Boring Topic party, as they seem to exceed other`s on the forum.

Sorry, but this seemed the only place I could find to put this. Occasionally I peep at the sheffield forum to see anything interesting, and I just found this latest topic. `Dead frog outside school`. Did anyone see the dead frog outside the primary school today. It was quite big and looked like a bird or cat had been feasting on it. Must have made some children`s eye`s water. I couldn`t pick it up as I was eating my breakfast........... Another member has replied; Is your entry to create the daftest thread on the Sheffield forum?
