09:5011809Says Tony Blair.
Yes he has admitted it, exactly what I have been saying all along that the record period of growth under Brown (now ended in tears) was all down to a benign international economic climate and a strong economic inheritance.
Nothing at all to do with Brown, except it was stoked further by excessive borrowing to create what will be the deepest recession of any major economy.

14:3111856I'm sure that luck was an element to the success of this government. I can see a slogan coming 'Stick with Labour and be lucky'. Maybe a new year's resolution to be less angry and not look for any little thing to see the green shoots of electoral recovery might help some posters.

15:1711863Look at the economic news Sid - just what 'success' of this Government?
There is no success, just an economic disaster caused by an incompetent Chancellor, turning Britain's recession into the worse in the developed world.
Stick with this Government! Will turkey's vote for Christmas? I know they are dumb birds but they are not that stupid.

16:5111873Where's the festive spirit? Surely the government has had some success since 1997, done one or two good things? I hate to go all highbrow with a literary reference but this 'four legs good, two feet bad' way of looking at things is probably bad for the viewer whatever coloured specs they're wearing. And Tony Blair as a source, is this the start of a campaign to bring him back? The people in my street are saying this new year that they want to stick with the devil they know, especially as they are lucky.

13:2311926I had a word with the neighbours this morning and challenged them over their blind faith. One of them has even got a small poster in their window saying L is for Luck, L is for Labour. So it looks like BarryW is right on this one.

10:1511998And then when labour wins the general election, and Gwyn is returned again, Roger and others will say well, its the people they blindly voted, not realising they put this lot in! indeed!
Only barryw did comment all the general elections that he realised labour had won and would be critical so expcted nothing else from him.
This thread will go on and on.
Tories will lose, blame why people didnt vote tory, excuses etc.
But at the end of the day the Labour Govt will be in office again and Gwyn will continue with his good work.

10:2912002Keith, you really do live in a fantasy world if you think that. All the signs are there, clear as day, Labour are on their last legs and at the latest in 18 months time David Cameron will be PM. Better for the country for it to be sooner than later though.

As Isaid heard it all before from you last 2/3 general elections.
If you don't want to believe it, and want to remain in the clouds, thats up to you.
I'm trying to break it to you gently, actually you thank me for being helpful one day !

12:1512010If the Tories get in we will have cuts in income tax, drastic cuts in services and steadily rising costs. If Labour get in it will be higher taxes, steadily declining services and rising costs. Whichever, the government will blame the 'legacy' left by the other lot for all the woes. Finding it difficult to see 'changing times' here Barry.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.
