I've never seen more than 3 workers either.
Developers can build quickly in Dover, but only on greenfield sites in Whitfield.
Gilcrest appear to be a micky mouse developer. And there's no-one giving them a kick up the arse to get things moving.
I just wish a proper house builder would buy the site from them.

So who is this Gilcrest homes and how can they afford to take 7-10 years to build on this site? It's ridiculous

I had the pleasure to walk around the new flats at The Paper Mill, stunning is all i can say, you really cannot tell what is going on inside or around the back from walking past, over 30 guys on site, phase 1 is almost complete, fair play the guys have done a great job, conversions are always difficult, especially when they are done to the standard of Buckland House and these buildings, hats off.

The new build in picture 14 has had scaffolding over it the top of it for weeks. Presumably the roof leaks?

I can't Gillcrest Homes ever being able to develop the whole site. All the prime town centre building land going to waste
Hi Karlos,
This is Nothing to do with Gillcrest Homes, this is Town and Country Housing association as I asked them when I was on site recently.

The town and country housing association must run to the same time frame as Gilcrest because the building in 14 was under scaffold cover for at least a year if not 18 months plus! That's about right to fix a leaking roof right???

When is it all due for completion? And when are they starting the new builds and all else that was promised?

It will come as funds roll in ,I think they are doing a good job with funds they get back ,as the saying goes "Do not put all your eggs in one basket."

It was at least 18mths, I understand it was not immediately fixed because of a dispute over culpability between builder and architect.

It is Nothing to do with Gillcrest, fair play they are the ones who have done the most difficult part which No else would touch, they are 90% complete inside.

I understand it is all resolved now and Town and Country are getting on with the repair.

I will ask for a invite to see if anyone is interested in attending, they can then at least see why it takes 18 months to build the 130 odd new homes, new homes fly up but Not conversion ones.

Scaffolding went around Christmas, so I presume works completed.

Nice to see the clocks replaced in the tower. And actually working
Probably the best to happen on site for years.

Wouldn't surprise me at all, the Co-op have been closing big stores and opening convenience shops all over the place, Buckland village is an ideal place once all the units have been occupied.

Confirmed on DDC planning website.
Opposite the bottom of Old Park Road. Double yellow lines there. Could cause problems at the junction if people start parking there.
