I have to agree with MAREK on this one, the French should be doing more.
On the questions of minors it did become clear when some did reach the UK they were abusing the age many way over 18 claiming to be minors.
but thats another story.
Will never agree with BRIAN to just send anyone bk whether they are at threat of there life or not
Many ex other country people work throughout all our industries, so just on the new so called immigrants many work in KENT SALADS But look around we habve other nationalities in NHS. Railways etc etc
do we send them home to? and where is home?
where does it stop?

did anyone read the report today that showed one child out of 7 did not have english as a first language?
is this taken into account when people insist that largescale immigration is a good thing.
we see pictures of single men queueing up to come in, the facts show that once here the dependants will suddenly become apparent.
the businesses employing the incomers do not have to upkeep the schools, health service and various other public bodies that get overstretched.

There is an interesting feature in YOUR DOVER this week by Marijke Cox on this very subject. Its all about Charlie Elphicke Conservative Candidtae for Dover and Deal and his trip to see for himself the terrible situation in Calais. I think the picture with the feature is particularly good, as it shows Charlie down and dirty with the refugees...one of them has an arm on Charlies shoulder...so Charlie clearly has the ability to reach people.
Charlie having now seen for himself up close how the refugees are living in Calais says, and this quote is from YOUR DOVER..
" Living conditions are terrible. We wouldnt allow animals to live in this way and we certainly wouldnt allow children to live like this"
Charlie Elphicke is clearly the softer face of Conservatism in action.
See the feature on Page 5 this weeks Your Dover.

I saw the World at War the other night, a great tv prog from when itv made good ones. The episode was about the nazis final solution and was quite harrowing to watch. Anyway, it was because of the issues of the 30s and 40s that countries after the war agreed to take in people in the future that need help. While some in Calais are no doubt economic migrants some are escaping war, torture etc and it is our, collective, responsibility to look after them. We shouldn't judge.

we should judge everyone coming in, serious criminals are entering the country with no documents, hidden nicely in with any genuine ones.
one only has to look at the government figures showing how many overseas criminals were deported last year.
There is no one-size-fits-all. We have an obligation to offer refuge, sanctuary, to another human being in need or in fear. But we should not at the same time harbour criminals and undesirables. the sensible way would be to create a system that can tell the difference rather than treat everyone the same.

theres a time to say yes and a time to say enough is enough and now is the time to enough.there is a limit to how many this country can take and we have crossed that line.enough is enough.

A new detention centre for illegal immigrants near Calais has received planning permission and is near construction.
A government document obtained by the Sunday Telegraph shows that Britain is funding half of the cost of the 500,000 euro (£470,000) centre in the French port, where migrants have been sleeping rough as they try to smuggle themselves into the UK.
There was confusion over the centre after the plans were first revealed by immigration minister Phil Woolas last week, with his French counterpart Eric Besson publicly vowing that there would be "no new Sangatte" camp in Calais.
It is thought that Mr Besson wanted to allay domestic concerns about the recreation of the Red Cross camp which housed up to 1,500 migrants at a time at the turn of the century and was closed in 2002.
The new centre will be on a much smaller scale, containing a number of police cells to hold immigrants until they can be deported. It will be similar to the detention suite at Heathrow Airport and will replace a temporary structure now in place at the port.
The letter from Brodie Clark, head of Border Force at the Home Office to Francis Etienne, director of migration at the Migration Ministry in France says: "I am very pleased to be able to confirm, on behalf of the UK Border Agency our contribution to fund 50% of the 500,000 euros cost estimated by the Calais Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) which will enable work to start.
Over the past decade, Calais has become a magnet for would-be migrants from Africa and Asia hoping to get into the UK.

its about time they did,but i did read something about this in the last couple of weeks i think ive posted about it on this thread somewhere.with the ammout of refugees around calias at the moment it looks like they will busy for forseable futer with more refugees turning up daily.on the other hand it depends how fast they can be deported.in a report theres a refugee earning 500 quid a time for opening doors on lorries then hiding in the under growth and phoning his boss to send more people down to diesal ally, this chap needs to be taken out and deported as soon as,any money found on his person or in a bank account should be siezed and plouhed back into tightning security.
