12:349727Yes, indeed - a timely reminder Paul.
I'll be helping with the Mulled wine around Noon, so come and say hello.
Should be fun - that's the whole idea.
I'll send a circular round too.

20:179752always a fun day, despite the cold.
don't forget that the museum are holding a family day also, so if gets too "brass monkeys" then the family can warm up
inside for a while with the activities there.
will there be a snow machine this year?

11:039786Can someone please check it's the real Hess turning on the Christmas lights, and not some Walter Mitty-esque imposter?

I can confirm that Hess was especially released from Spandau Ballet in order to pull the light switch for the opening of this years Dovers light extravaganza. This will be followed by a torchlight procession of Brown Shirted councillors marching to the DTIZ site to burn all copies of previous bids for development of that site that did not include backhanders or the erection of an American owned uselessmarket.ASDA will last a thousand years ...allegedly.

11:539789Lol! Marek, now that was funny, does this mean that DDC and DTC respectively wear black & brown shirts, take heed chaps, remember 'Nacht der langen Messer'
Spandau Ballet, one of my favourite bands - 'Vienna' was a great number, do you remember the black & white video for the single, very Third Man.

15:549794Now I remember why that song only ever got to number two in the charts.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

17:039803Vienna was by Ultravox, not Spandau Ballet, Barry - as I'm sure you now recall.
It's very unlike people in this town to get their bands mixed up, isn't it? After all, everyone knows that our very own Topper Headon was the lead guitarist in The Buzzcocks.
Yours,
Vic Parfitt (aka Andy 'Rudolph' Hess)

17:149806This has all gone 'down the dustpipe'. We would of course love to give the boys 'whatever they want' here in Dover as we already tried to do, and have them at the Christmas Lights switch on but they are probably right now 'rocking all over the world' in true headbanging style.

19:159817I've never missed the Christmas lights switch-on, but I will miss them for the first time this year as I'm off to Belguim for the weekend to cheer Saskia on at the Miss European contest representing Ireland and Dover.
Of course I am going in my official status as Miss Rococo - the Original Chocolate Christmas Fairy by special invitation from the Belgian royal family, Sssh now, don't anyone tell them that I'm not the real one.
