That's interesting Sheila with regard to the Park Warden checking the park, the house is privately owned now with new owners who are busy renovating the property at this time. Darran Solley, DDC, tells me that they are a nice couple, I must introduce myself to them soon.

As we hadn't heard anything for over a year I decided to pop over and see what was happening, all looks very nice - two examples.

Lovely park but I hardly ever see anyone other than the odd dog walker.

No flowers, fewer people, plenty autumn leaves:

That's on a hand-me-down Samsung phone from the spouse: my camera's out of service.

I have been busy re visiting this thread, and over the weekend which is always a time for reflection I recalled planting a tree in Connaught Park in 2014.There is a plaque which says "Lest we forget "To cut this post short I thought it would have been nice to place a few
Poppies round the tree so I asked three people and I could not get one to do it .The RBL man who was present when the tree was planted died last year and I would like to have thought of him .
I know some of you go to the park so if you have a camera to hand I would like to know how the tree is doing .
When my daughter comes home again I will go and see for myself .Having to rely on buses makes these kind of visits hard .
I was sad that the people I asked could not help as they live near the park

Well SN, if you let me know where the tree is, and I can find it, I'll take a picture next time I'm up there and post on here if no one else has done so before that.

Finished my painting early, so took a stroll up to the park and found the tree. Unfortunately the sun had done it's best by then (and they're only phone shots as my camera's kaput).
I'd guess it's around 12 - 13 feet tall at the moment:
The cage is still robust:
Looks like an oak to me, and holding onto its leaves very well:
