- 3 August 2010 08:3063767Thanks Terrismark, people with ADHD do need a lot of understanding, as you say, it is an illness. Or perhaps it is stress, which she always suffers from. Compassion is necessary, but not always easy. We have to try and put ourselves in their place and perhaps use a little more understanding. We all have our faults and foibles... and cannot change our genes..---------------------------------------------------

Kath - This illness has been a real learning curve for me, as I have always been very spontaneous whereas having a child with ADHD is totally the opposite, everything has to be planned and discussed - ie bed times, holidays, trips, even doing chores around the house, and I still struggle.
I think your friend would be really pleased that you have an understanding, it is difficult, but all relationships have to be worked at if they are worth anything to you.
