13:3535712You may remember that a few months ago I told you this was coming on soon, and it is on 28th and 29th and in it is local actor Shane Taylor who used to play in my football team.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

19:0535729I remember the original Day of the Triffids, pretty good as I remember, but I haven't seen it for ages, they don't repeat it much.
Look forward to seeing it tomorrow night.

08:1035823Watched the first part last night and quite enjoyed it - looking forward to the concluding episode tonight.
I didn't remember/know that they harvested triffids for their oil, good for reducing global warming - that must have been new (?). Maybe next we'll have a Day of the Rape (seed).

08:4635826I watched it too and yes it was enjoyable up to a point, but where once upon a time the Day of the Triffids was very original, the idea now however of a post apocolyptic type scenario has been done to death by TV, so I dont think there was anything 'new' in the programme to perk up our jaded palates. However I will watch part two tonight as at least the cast is good.

12:3135835It was a well made and good adaption. Just a couple of niggles, how on earth Eddie Izzard survived the plane crash is beyond me, but hey ho. I also wasn't too struck on the triffids themselves - they looked as if they were wearing hoodies, some sort of post-modern satire there? The triffids in the BBC 1981 adaption were much more sinister as they looked much more convincing as plants, indeed they had been designed by a botanist.
As Paul says we have seen this post-apocalyptic stuff in London done a few times now. 28 Days Later practically borrowed scene for scene at the beginning from the 1981 adaption early in the film, and this new production resembled that of the new Survivors. Still, as the novel of Triffids predated all of them it would be unfair to accuse the new adaption of plundering other productions for inspiration as it's source material was there first.
Good stuff, 8/10. Will definitely tune in tonight,

13:3735837I enjoyed the adaptation, especially the twist that the Triffids were tethered for oil production to ease the spectre of global warming - only to have a solar flare ruin it all for everyone - just deserts hmmm..
Edddie Izzard surviving a Jumbo crash into Parlaiment by inflating as many life vests as he could in the plane's toilet cubicle - well really!
As previously posted it comes at a time when there have been many post-apocalyptic films and series (like Survivors), but I feel it is still worth watching even though the actual Triffids remind me of rather funny Aloe-Vera plants that have wandered from the roundabout in Ramsgate.

14:1335840I enjoyed the first part of the adaptation, I felt that the Triffids were creatures left over from a early sixties episode of 'Dr Who', entertaining good round fun tv though. The idea of farming the triffids for oil was a good idea, reducing the carbon footprint on the worlds climate. Eddie Izzard's character is great, we know he will get his just desserts in the end.

12:4835925I thought it was an enjoyable adaptation which made a change from the usual rubbish on the Christmas schedules. Like Phil, I'd give it 8/10.
