Mark, imagine how that would work if applied to goods etc? I think it should be possible to prosecute political parties under the trades descriptions act or something similar if they promise stuff in their manifesto and don't deliver.

parties always have a get out clause in manifestos.
That would be an interesting court case Sid , would any politician be able to take the oath .

In defence of PaulB and Howard regarding Sue's post (#11) on this thread, I think that Dover Forum has been completely open and above board with regard to even handedness on this forum.....
Barry speaks loads for the Conservatives, Stephen speaks loads for the Lib/Dems, Gwyn sends his missives via the press office (but it's a shame that Keef is keeping his own counsel at the moment) and Vic has plenty to say about UKIP (!), and works tirelessly to keep the UKIP thread on the 'hot' list.
I think Dover Forum has been terrific with regard to free speech at election time and the two main protagonists deserve a big thank you.
True friends stab you in the front.

thanks for that andy, regarding keith, he is a publc servant now and it would be against his terms of employment to make any political comment during an election campaign.
i think that vic has used the forum to best effect, i know more about the ukip manifesto than all the others.
pity that the media do not give them any meaningful coverage.
I would also like to add my thanks to Dover Forum for letting me post information about Lib Dem events - and if I've got the time I'll start posting extracts from the Lib Dem manifesto
