This afternoon I popped into town and bumped into Roger and his leaflets
Although he didnt rescue me from another conversation taking place, he was out and out in the shops.
I took away 1 of his leaflets and will be visiting the allotments t/moz to sample there food(all in the leaflet)
have to say the leaflet looked good, and im sure will help promote Dover

Roger (despite his dubious political leanings) is one of Dovers best assets. He puts so much(unpaid) time into promoting Dover to the masses and overseas visitors that he shames the tourist board into submission.Along with Mandie(DCAL) he puts so much effort in to everything he does he deserves some form of recognition.
Rock on Roger.Hope to see you soon .Love to Jean.

There are lots of unsung heroes regrettably I can only mention those I have met.Maybe this is an opportunity to name the others that tire selfishlishly to promote Dover. I know you do a lot with your various outlets and is much admired.I only wish I could have done more before I left Dover.

Thank you for your comments Keith, sorry I couldn't rescue you !
We can all say thank you to who ever we feel helps Dover, or who works as a volunteer in whatever field.
Yesterday I heard from a Lady informing me that her husband had just died; I always liked him, he was a good chap but was very poorly and had a progressive illness.
While he was at home, she was caring for him and doing volunteer work for people; now he's passed away, she's going to spend a little time for herself, then go back to volunteering.
She is one of many many people who give their time unpaid to helping others.
One point to remember though in all of this, is that they must be able to afford (money-wise) to do this, as they don't look for paid-work.
Thank you Marek - dubious political leanings indeed.
I do my best; like many people, I love Dover and want to help it move forward. I am talking to businesses of one sort or another every day, finding out what their problems are and if I can, picking them up and running with them until they're resolved - and I'm pleased to say, I've had some successes.
It's not easy to get those successes working on your own - as an individual, so the brick-dust builds up on your forehead after a time.
