Jim has now announced that all operations have been wound down and players and coaching staff furloughed. I think this is the right thing to do and we can sit back and await our punishment knowing that this action is motivated by nothing other than a desire to secure the long term future of the club.
For what it's worth, my own view is that other clubs will now follow suit as it's not our job to subsidise Notts County's promotion push!

sad but that is the only way out I have not been a good supporter over the years but having going up there at times from just after the war, if I had the money then I would help out to keep them going.I think you are right sir in saying that other clubs will follow .

Being a loyal supporter home and away since 60s through the many ups and downs , the club will go through this and no matter where they end up I will be there .
The National League are getting this one wrong bearing in mind what's going on with the virus in the world .
Other clubs will follow in the interests of survival

The club is in this position because government actions put it there.

What happens now is that clubs across the whole National League system (Step 1 -National and Step 2 - North and South) have been asked to vote on what happens next. My understanding is that the first question, asked only of Step 1 clubs is (my paraphrasing): should the two steps decide whether their own league carries on?
If 75% majority agree that they should, then the three leagues will deicide upon their own future. As of now, it looks like Step 1 (Dover's league) would carry on, Step 2 (North) would vote to null and void the season and Step 2 (South) is too close to call. However, the majority for null and voiding the North is so great it would carry the South with it.
In summary, that would mean that with no promotion from Step 2 to Step 1, Dover might just be ok as the logical correlation is no relegation from Dover's league (Step 1 to Step 2). Of course, expect more twists and turns mind you.
Follow all that? Go to the top of the class.

There's no chance that Dover's league will stop playing. They mainly have money men who have continued putting money into their teams.
It's now a case of which league the club ends up in next season. The NL South, possibly the Isthmian Premier or at the bottom in SE Counties League.

When we where in the Kent League with over 3000 going EACH week to see a good match the players or some of them did not get paid anything.
When they played Ashford , over 4000 turned up.

The decision has been made.... Dover will not be relegated from the National League but have been fined £40k and will start with minus 12 points.

I fully admit to knowing nothing about the FA or football but fining any club that already has money problems seems just plain daft.

The fine is significantly less than DAFC would have lost by playing on, so suspect Parmenter wont be too miffed about that part of the punishment. The 12 point deduction for next season is the punishment that will really hurt as it will be an uphill battle for the Whites to wipe that out and get on some sort of parity with the rest of the league.
Having said that they new the rules and the range of punishments that might be levied and stuck to their decision even though the majority of the league voted to carry on with the season (and pour money down the bottomless pit of their collective losses).

They have enough problems attracting players to come down here as it is. I fear that the biggest problem will be getting the playing staff prepared to gamble on joining a small club starting at such a disadvantage.

It is crazy Jan
Looks like club are going to take league to court
They won't pay fine according to chairman
.
There's a world wide virus going on out there
Has the league not seen it
The league rules also state clubs should not put them selves in a position to go under
Which is exactly what the league asked them to do
