Dover Carnival 4th July
- 26 June 2009 13:3024519The Day looms ever closer and so does the PMC Party. We have secured Colin and the musicians and I have secured some drinks and we still have the gazebos up. So all we need is punters and food!
This weekend I am conning young kids out of their pocket money at Temple Ewell Fete 11-4pm then down here to set up things and next saturday will be here from midday for final preparations.
We would welcome any help or food ( missing Marek on this one ) or more drinks of course , but there will be plenty anyway so come empty or full handed and all forumites welcome. Nothing was left over from the Marek Farewell party except empty plates! 4pm start and then moving to the front door when the Carnival comes by - still got plenty of St George flags to give out!

- 26 June 2009 14:2924523Ah the Annual Event..not necessarily the Carnival itself but the Hannent soiree in the rear of PMC Castle St at Carnival time. Together it all adds up to a great occasion. A good time is always had by all as its a very very pleasant occasion. We might even get out the PImms for this one.

We will bring food and drink, if you need help from midday onwards, Gazebo Man Barry is available and of course my goodself and Briony Saskia will be in the Carnival parade as she is a court of Kent Princess this year. As well as fun for the kids and stalls for the odd buyer, we have a great line up starting with Buddy G, then the Sea Cadet Band, User Friendly Band, Elvis and then Heroes, finishing at 5pm in time for carnival, so I hope you will come along and support us as well

I remember being a shy slim forumite (boy can I fib ) and reading about Davids Do's and feeling rather apprehensive about attending but I took the plunge and immersed myself into forumite life. Natascha entered at very short notice the Miss Junior Battle of the Flowers Competition.There were over 90 entries from young girls aged between 9 - 12 years. That list has now been wittled down to 25. I am pleased to say that ol' Stinker has made it to the final 25 and the selection day is on Sunday 5th July at one of the local attractions. Its a full day with BBQ followed by the selection process..hence my inability to attend this years Dover Carnival.
At least Dover will be represented at the selection day even if she is unsuccessful she was as pleased as punch to get thus far.So fingers crossed.
We will be thinking of you all on Saturday especially Mandie and the girls Good Luck! Have a super day.

The whole DCAL posse will be thinking of you on Sunday and sending you all the luck in the world. I can only speak for myself, but Jersey certainly would be choosing the right girl for the job in you darling. You were an absolute credit to me.

As I understand it ...its Miss Dover herself who has gone and former Miss Dover Loren Selby is coming back in. Some in-appropriate behaviour is the reason or so Ive heard, although I cant say anything further than that.
Loren Selby was Miss Dover last year, as I mentioned earlier, and is very efficient in the role.

I will not go into details however I will say the following. Miss Dover 2009 has been stood down due to unforseen circumstances. There is NO MAYHEM Brian, so please do not make more of this than need be.
In DCAL history we have NEVER stood a girl down until now. Something which happens n a regualr basis elsewhere may I add.
It is gossip like the posting you have written above Brian that creates more problems than need be.
Any one of you can approach me and ask me if you want the truth.
Paul B is quite correct that Deputy Miss Dover 2009 and last years Miss Dover Loren Selby will now resume the role for the remainder of 2009. This is partly the reason courts have deputies, who automatically step into the role if need be.
There are NO resignations from the DCAL committee infact it gets bigger by the week with yet another new member to the fold who joined us this week.
Our main focus is on this Saturdays Carnival, and Paul B is quite right in saying that we could have well done without the kerfuffle. However DCAL is stronger than ever, and are going to give Dover a parade it can be proud of this weekend.
