Again Mr Perkins you are wrong alot of Churchs and in Dover have services and meeting in the week, ones like St Pauls, and the Ark and many more ,so please go and find out for yourself do not take my word for it.I am not a Christian because I am not that good but I do know God.And the church do just that they do not sit on their backside and do nothing and they do a good service to the public, you might not go to any church but if somthing happen in your life and you need somone from a church to see you ,all you have to do is use the phone and they will be there for you. Thats more then what you would get from the police at times.
Vic, I don't know any churches that do Holy Communion mid-week. I am a Christian. I was baptised by my own free choice at 19 and did lay preaching for several years after. I no longer feel the need to go to church, but I still have my faith.

St Pauls do Holy Communion most days even Saturdayand they are not the only one.You say not me that you feel no need to go to church anymore, please tell me how you reach that one then?I agree you do not need to go to church to know God but that is not the same as going to a church.

Sud,
The Church of St Peter and Paul River .Wednesday 10,00am communion. You are most welecome to stroll into the River Parish .
The church is only a building Vic and for me totally irrelevant now. I happily accept that some need the focus of such a place, but I don't.
I have attended services in most denominations and held services in my local Baptist church. I have attended and held prayer meetings and bible study groiups. These were necessary in my religious formative years.
Now however, I beleive that wherever I am, my God is with me and I don't need to the comfort of bricks, mortar and minister to make him any more real in my life.
At the end of the day, we each find our own way to our God, no one route is right or wrong.

SID
This is a fairly complex thing, and fear getting involved, politics and religion always a non starter for me, look what happens across the world, normally one of these two things will have started it off.
On the question of SUNDAYS I do feel family life is seriously affected by shops opening on a sunday, but thats only part of the break down of family life, so will probably stop there, as the subject is so big, and could go on, but realy unless we look again at what's going on around we are in for a bleak future.
On the question of religion I was dragged up through the catholic church(St pauls) even attended st pauls prmary school(showing me age lol)
can't say they did me any good, in fact all my family went through this system and one of my brothers has become an active humanist member because of the horrific things seen in catholic school by SO CALLED christian nuns.
I do have faith, and always recall a vicar telling me, you don't have to attend church to be a christian, but its good if you could for the good of the church itself.
He was my idea of a promoter of the church(sadly not catholic)
I didnt get married in catholic church.
Church is just a building, its about what you do with your life that matters, thats all that him upstairs is concerned about lol

A Church is not just any old house it is the house of God and you can go in or stay out.I like to go around to my mates house at times just like yourself, and God is one of my best mates and has been with me all my life ,now that is what you call a good mate, one that is always there when you need him.

i must admit i am fascinated by the strong beliefs of vic, i would love to be able to have the same convictions.
i suspect that a lot of non believers are secretly jealous.
