09:518551I assume its the office space of both papers .Im sure there will still be a Mercury and Dover Express. The Dover Express is hardly a local paper anymore ,I get fed up reading about Folkestone and Hythe etc. There are far too many adverts,The reporters these days maybe its the training dont write local news.
The express is just a local Sun .If the reporters are based eklsewhere they will become real roving reporters ,not waiting for people to drop in and spread sensational gossip.

10:408554VIc you must be reading a different version of Dover Express as it often has pictures of Folkestone and Hythe events in it .Hardly Dovers own paper .The Mercury has seperate papers for Dea land Sandwich .Often they donot cover the same stories .You rarely read about Sandwich events in The Dover Express oh dear nearly typed Diva .You are missing the point the paper is not going just the office space .
In my former home town the paper was printed and edited in a town twelve miles away .
Move with the times sorry no pun intended .We lost East Kent Road Buses now Stagecoach but still driven here in Dover mostky by local drivers .I think we will still have a local paper .

11:008557I have no comment at this time to what Sue Nicholas has put only to say as she put it in her own home town, I could not have put it better myself she like lots of other Cllrs have not been in Dover all their lives but talk alot about their own home town well I think if it was that good and I have said this before then go back there.
I am sorry to talk this way about anyone but just sometimes I have to ---------.
I have just done a posting on the Doverlocals about it aswell,I think the Dover Forum and the Dover locals could work with each other on this one I still think there is time to save the paper, the paper which has had its office in DOVER for 150years are we going to sit back and let it go,
The public are not behind me and some of the things I have try to do in the past so it is up tp you, but please do not take notice of Sue NICHOLAS has wrote down. Do act on what I have put or it will go in afew weeks time.
I remain yours faithfully Vic matcham

11:298558I'm sorry Sue but Hythe events are not covered in the Dover Express and very rarely are Folkestone ones, the nearest area covered by both the Express and Herald is Capel. It is very much a local paper and will have a two page focus on Sandwich this week.

11:388559I dont usally respond to personal attacks however sometimes people need to be corrected .Yes Dover is not my home town I have lived here Thirty Seven years ,Why?My husband came to Dover for promotion and when Seaspeed merged with HoverLloyd he reverted back to British Rail He got a job in the Eastern Counties And I was due to follow with my younger son however sadly he died before that could happen .Now I had a choice move to the lovely house we were buyimg or stay in Dover where my daughter was doing her A levels and my elder son had friends .The youger one could have settled anywhere .I stayed and for all of the thirty seven years i have lived here I have worked for my community .
I could not return to my home town Vic I could never have accessed soicial housing as I saved hard in my younger days and bought a property .THe property in my home town is £200,000 plus for a modest dwelling .
Some times people who have lived in other counties etc have a lot to offer .
May I say your comment go back to where you come from is a very typical remark from someone who has limited knowledge of the bacground of the person they are attacking .It nothing to do with not being a local person Its economic sense THey ffice space is too costly
Sometimes the head has to rule the heart.I would dearly have loved to have returned to my routes but those days are long gone as have my parents .In life you have to make the best of what you have .
Saving the Dover Express is not on my list of top priorities .
Im sure you will still have a paoer just not a local office
Perhaps you could suggest Collette ,Paul and Simon Finlay go back to where they come from .
Be very careful at pointing fingers .

11:398562vic, i do not think we are losing the papers alltogether just office space.there are 3 other ways of contacting the papers, phone, letter.and e-mail,you will find the the telephone numbers along the addresses where to write to printed in the paper/s week in week out.so you have no excuse not to contact the paper.

12:028568Sue - thank you for the defensive, unpleasant and attacking advertisement. I had missed those.
