23:366002i have just logged into their website.
what a laugh that was.
i lost count of the number of "visions" they have.
would do justice to an old testament prophet.
no action whatsoever.
the sooner the whole thing is closed down the better, in my opinion.
the money would be better spent on something tangible.

09:286017HOWARD You are so right they like some of the rest are all talk, talk nothing is moving on in the Town are have had meetings, meetings all meetings what are they talking about.

11:586023Totally agree, Howard and Vic. All talk - as usual - by the looks of things.
And 'Dover Pride' still, hilariously, sounds like a gay street festival, for what it's worth. Now something like that - anything! - would be a start at least, for those that way inclined. Better than 'visions', spin and the customary 100 per cent inertia.

19:386040Actually, I would like to see a proper Dover Pride march, as described.

12:566082Sorry, but I can't think of one thing that Dover Pride has achieved. It just seems to be a talking shop that does nothing. Dump it and put the money to good use.

19:416097we seem agreed on this.
perhaps "dover pride" could issue a statement of achievements, in case we have missed something.

09:356114Howard a fair point you make there about " a statement of achievements".
As I said on the other thread 'Paul Watkins Welcomes New DP Director'...I have written to the new director suggesting that she might like to join us here on Doverforum in an effort to get the Dover Pride message out...as far as we can tell Dover Pride equals a blank canvas, at least as far as the general wider community is concerned. It would certainly help to improve their image if they could and would communicate.
...so far I have not had an answer, but perhaps its early days yet.

09:536117I thought that the 'Dover Pride' was a group of orphaned Lions that had lost their way and had been rehoused in Howletts Zoo.I'm sure I made some financial contribution towards their upkeep but alas received nothing in return..well you live and learn..as me ol' fella used to say.

13:476125I don't really understand much about the way towns manage to secure funds etc for events and things going on around and about, but a lot of our spare family time has been spent in Folketone this year. They have numerous events on the Leas Cliff and also at the coastal play area/amphitheatre below. The harbour area is alive with people attracted by the farmers market and small cafes. Yesterday there were crowds of people over there, both down at the Harbour and in the town centre itself where there is also a small market. When we returned home, our town in contrast was dead.
We also have beautiful areas and locations in Dover but there is not a lot to attract people to them on a sunny weekend.

21:106139a closed shop!!
getting back to sarah's post, she is painfully right.
what better on a sunday to go down to the harbour in folkestone, tour the interesting market, take a choice between the abundance of sea food stalls or maybe chummys fish and chips.
afterwards walk it off on the way to the stunning coastal park, if you have kids in tow, then the play area is totally state of the art, with no drunken morons to worry about.
folkestone is not perfect, of course.
we can still learn from it though.

14:136318A little bit out of date, Bob Markham has been replaced by Gordon Cowan, at Dover Prides request.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

15:366323Well, at least we are now fully up-to-date with the list of Dover Pride alumni - straight out of central casting, as usual.
Nothing standing in the way of progress, then. At last we can rest easy in our beds and look forward to the brightest of bright futures for our town.
