10:0313785Thanks for that Paul.I was not looking at Parish Councils.WE have several new ones here in River.Funny old system ,Parish Councillors of which there are many ,Town Councillors and District Councillors are addressed as Councillor however County members are not called councillor .At meetings MR/Mrs /Ms .
Outside of a meeting Im rarely addressed as councillor ,.

11:5613801Thanks Brian .It is lovely if you are unapposed. That has never happened to me .I was on the River parish Council for ten years but always had to get the votes .In those days more people were interested in local affairs .Not much Community spirit now .Parish Councils are non political thank goodness. Its a job to coopt people .Getting like that on DDC as well .Too many out there expecting one to change the world .Last week i encountered a problem which really upset me however I can only do so much
.

14:1413819all good humour bern .I think you probably bump into good friens of mine who attend St Pauls .They live in Park Avenue ,will say no more on an open forum. They are good living catholics and i have a lot of time for your beliefs .I get on well with John ??from Buckland church??
Let us hope the Pope answers my prayers I find some things I have to deal with very very sad.
By the way before Christmas I mentioned a dear friend of mine who has a brain tumour .I did visit him last weekend tried to cheer him up with silly stories .Sadly this week he has gone into decline so back to the hospice. Not a good week for me still must keep smiling

21:1713945I can not agree on this one if you are a cllr then call yourself one why not? i always did and proud of it i can not think of anything better than be a representative of the public I loved doing it and was sorry and some what upset when it all came to the end.

22:0113958on the subject of titles, when i live in ilford, i belonged to a tennis club, where one of the members had only one good arm coupled with one withered one.
really clever when he served!!
just a normal type of chap, then he became mayor.
he started talking to people without looking at them directly, and worst of all started shaking hands with us to stress his importance.
suffice to say, i used to offer a hand back to his bad arm.

sometimes people just go as they are, others thnk they have been elevated to a higher platform in life.
i have known victor when he was a councillor then not a councillor, i can safely say that he has never changed.
be nice if he would though.

09:5913989I've agreed with BarryW (on another thread) and now I am agreeing with Keith, I must check in with my doctor. I always have been Chris, I leave it to others to use 'councillor' to wind me up.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.
