It is interesting to see the pictures on this paintings website, and where they all are based. Nat Maritime Museum have quite a lot on Dover, and others in many other museums and art galleries around Britain. Yes, there are a lot in the Dover Collection at the Maison Dieu, too many to put on display all the time, but most are of important Dover scenes, or people and should not leave Dover.

Three of my dad's miniature water colours of Dover Castle. These are miniatures so the first one is actually about three inches across and the other two about an inch.

Thanks for the info on the RNAS painting, Ed. I had no idea there was a RNAS station at Capel - and I thought I knew a bit about local history! I've decided to write to the curator at Yeovilton to see if there's any way I could buy a copy; if I have any luck, I'll let you know.
What a fantastic thread this is. Thank you, Penny, for starting it.
