first i have heard of this, what is the story behind this?
Some eejits called him names and spat at him inAsda - he was the YouTubed describing them as mutants, but it sounded as if he was labelling everyone who shopped at Asda as a mutant. Job done.

thanks for info bern, why do politicos get involved in internet sites, they think they are "cool dudes" just tend to make themselves complete prats.
You missed the point Howard, someone else put the YouTube item up, probably one of the mutant gang pestering him. They should be birched!

SID
The point also is, customers that shop at Asda were kicking off over what he called everyone.
If he only meant the youngsters he should have made it clear.
To apologise would clear it all up
but sounds like he's reluctant to do so

People call other people names all the time; I guess it's only because he is an MP that they thought it worth recording and putting on YouTube.
A non-story - or should be.
No one would have bothered if Joe Public had said it; they probably have said it - about people who shop at Tesco's too probably.
That's the problem though when you put your head above the parapet - as I have found out to my cost over the years.

If you are in the Public eye 24/7 Roger you should be always looking out for this kind of thing.
I really don`t understand why any "normal" people would take offence at what was said as clearly this guy`s remarks would not have been aimed at them. Personally I think it`s just somebody, with their own agenda, trying to make something out of nothing.
If I ever go down to the town for whatever reason I usually say that I`m off to "Mutant City" simply because, in my opinion and if I`m being honest, that`s what it often resembles. This remark is not directed, of course, at those classed as "normal" ( and you know who you are! )
Likewise, as Roger has perhaps implied, there are a lot of customers who frequent Tesco`s that I would class as "mutants" and who would all be perfect candidates for the Jeremy Kyle show. Only yesterday I had the misfortune to get behind some smelly and unkempt individual in the queue who was obviously high on something and seemed intent on trying to hassle the poor cashier.
No doubt this particular individual would fit into the PC category as being socially excluded, dissadvantaged, in poverty and in need etc., etc., In reality he needed a good kick up the backside.
Sorry, but it`s about time we said it how it is and if the people who it`s directed at don`t like it, then tough!
My own view, for what it's worth, is that as you say, someone had an agenda and used out of context material to make a point - and here we are, talking about it, so job done!! It has come to the point where we can't even make a flip joke without it being YouTubed and used against us.

There seems to be an invented name for any kind of behaviour nowadays: ADHD, ODD, Tourettes; anything to put a label on what used to be called bad behaviour.
I do agree that some that were thought to be that, have now been identified as a real and serious problems, like Dyslexia etc. but the majority have been invented to excuse many people's bad attitude.
Roger
You may be right Roger. My daughter when whe was 6 - 7 had a little known condition known as Ettes. Basically it was an uncontrolled urge to throw things in the air. There didn't appear to be any treatment for this condition in one so young. It was a worrying time.
However, when she reached about 10 - 11 the condition worsened and took on the Major aspect of the illness. Weekends were especially straining. This was probably due to her not needing to go to school and with no focus throwing things up in the air was about all she could do.
Luckily for us a local couple in Burnham had formed a support group, and they eventually brought some control to the problem for us. The group? Oh they were called The Burnham Band and Majorettes!

saw a chap in town with a t shirt on bearing the legend, "no i do not have tourettes i genuinely think you are a ****".
An excellent comment from the M.P. Almost as good as Rory Stewart, the MP for Cumbria, who noticed that many of his constituents go around with their trousers kept up with bailing twine. Either of them would get my vote!
Personally I always think that a day when I have not offended anyone is a wasted day.
(Sitting in a field on the Isles of Scilly. Wonderful thing this technology!)
