Hi all,
Sorry if this has already been asked elsewhere, but are there going to be hustings this year? Christians together in Dover normally organise something. I thought I'd heard that something was happening tommorrow - does anyone know for sure?
All the best, Matt

you will have to look at the threads matt.
ukip and the libdems have their own threads, detailing public meetings.
my aged memory is failing so cannot give dates and venues.

Yes they do and it is tomorrow night,I am very upset about this meeting and will be telling them in very strong words I was the very first to agree to sit on this meeting and was told "Thank you Vic and we lookward to hearing what you have to say."But I am now told i can not sit with the other Candidates and have a imput at the meeting. It is only going to be the BLUES AND Reds and Leb/Dems who lives out side the Constituency of Dover,I did sit at this meeting at the last GenElection, +I am the only Dovorian Candidate in the Election,I am not a happy man.

There must have been political pressure put on the organisers Vic. Either that or they wanted to emulate the TV debates, with just the 3 main parties taking place - but then, why ask you in the first place ?

The husting are business hustings at Deal Town Hall Wednesday organised by Deal Chamber of Trade and yes, they have only invited the 'big three'. Their decision.

As Barry says, their decision. A wrong decision, however. On Vic's behalf, I drew up a very polite request for them to reconsider their decision but it was turned down, and I have no doubt that Vic will be letting his feelings known in no uncertain terms - and quite right, too: this constituency could hinge on very tight numbers, and in excluding the minority parties, they are excluding a significant minority who could quite easily affect the result.
Undemocratic at the very least, but I think it goes beyond that. If you want the input from the 'big three', then you can see that on TV on Thursday, as you've been able to for the past two Thursdays......surely a local hustings should be more of a reflection of local issues, and to exclude one of the most passionate and committed Dovorians there is cannot be right. I happen to know it's a decision that has been extremely hurtful to Vic, and my only hope is that his feelings do not prevent him from saying so eloquently - it would be very easy, and a mistake, to let personal feelings take control. Remain objective, Vic, and the message will be all the more clear.

Had they invited all the candidates then they would have had to include the BNP candidate. Had they done so then Gwyn would have refused to appear, hence the decision. I am sure this was covered in the local press.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

I have to say that you cannot have it two ways.
The BNP are detestable, but so are many of those of the left as well.
I suspect that if the Chamber of Trade invited the BNP to exert their right to free speech, the whole meeting would have decended into a farce by the antics of the fascist left trying to prevent the BNP nasties from exercising their free speech. Two wrongs dont make a right.

So, what Gwyn says goes then, does it? Because he won't share a stage with an extremist, local debate has to suffer.....and that's democracy in action, I suppose.

Andy - it does indeed show that Gwyn Prosser has no genuine interest in free speech and democracy.

They have left wing economic policies Howard, nationalisation and intervention. Yes, they have much more in common with old left Labour than Conservatives.

No spin - fact.
Look at their website, their policies are clear.
Nationalisation and intervention - these are left wing policies are they not?
So where is the spin?
