23:1565048Didn't watch it Sue, there were better things on the box tonight. Two excellent programs on Channel 2, "Coast" was on at 8 pm followed by "The Normans" both follow ups from last week.
I learnt more from "The Normans" tonight than I ever learnt at school in the History lessons that we had.

07:3665060We saw those two as well Alec. - enjoyed both of them.
It is a very informative series; I must be honest there were a few things that had come back to me while the narrator was talking - Jean said a couple of times "I never knew that".
In many cases we forget a lot of what we're taught at school - especially after so many years
of not using/needing it.

07:5365063I always notice things like that on here Sue. My daughter was watching it, I had no interest whatsoever. So what if England won 10-0 or 15-0? Who care`s? It`s a couple of month`s back it was needed, not now, so soon after. Why bother? Totally meaningless I`d have thought. A bit late in the day.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

09:1465080Watched the footie and enjoyed seeing the young guns getting thier first caps for their country. It was an entertaining match with England conceding a goal that wasn't. Anyway, the road to th Euro Finals begins in a feww weeks so this friendly was a useful work-out for the new players.
Luckily I've got BBC i-player (100 times better than ITV's version) so plan to watch The Normans and Coast at a later date.

10:3965097I enjoyed the Normans as well, I didn't realise that they confiscated English Lords estates to that extent. On the footie I saw the last fifteen minutes or so, not bad, early days.

10:5665103I watched the footie and enjoyed it. I heard this morning that Capello stated that Beckhams career was over...pity he didn't have the decency to inform Beckham about it either over the phone or in person.
Not sure about my history but didn't Bill the Con make a deathbed confession about how poorly he treated the Anglo Saxons by confiscating their land and putting many to the death by the sword?. At least the Normans left a pile of nice churches the first of which I believe was St Marys? in Dover town centre.
Marek
I think therefore I am (not a Tory supporter)

11:1665111that is right marek he was contrite about his behaviour.
an interesting thing about the domesday book was the the chap who compiled put a statement in to the extent that "have we taxed them enough yet or is there more we can grab."
makes george whacking up the v.a.t. look quite mild.

16:3865169Just to be pedantic it was not one chap what compiled it, however there was only one chap what ordered it to BE compiled.

17:4365183Is an exited Tottenham fan , have given up with England , was not impressed last night . Did any one else notice Hungarys goal didnt cross the line ?
13 August 2010
00:4165287Everyone watching realised it Mark, only the Froggie linesman didn't see it. Did you notice Fabio scutlling away without shaking the hand of the Hungarian manager? Only a Johnny Foreigner would bhave in such a way.
Sack Fabio and appoint O'Neill as manager. He may be Oirish, but at least he speaks the language of the world, English.

10:2865332Im getting worried Sid im agreeing with you again , time for Fabio to take his millions and go , and take the Fa with him .

10:4665343i think that fabio has lost the plot, his latest being the treatment of beckham.
martin o'neill would be the ideal replacement in my view.
