Well not quite. In fact exactly the opposite. I was looking at the following graph on the Spectator web site.
It shows that, if you count everyone in Britain employed over the age of 16, there has been a 3.9 percent reduction in male jobs and just a 0.8 percent reduction in female jobs. In actual numbers, the recession has (so far) taken 622,000 male jobs and 113,000 female jobs: a ratio of five-to-one.
Meanwhile last week I had finished (re)reading Freidrich Engels 1845 book The Condition of the Working Class in England.
In it Engels argues that the Irish (rather than Eastern Europeans) are taking all the male jobs, and that industrialisation means that many others are being done by machines tended by women (and children).
Are we males redundant (as my daughters would tend to argue!) or is this yet another cyclical scare?

Bob Frost, simple to answer. The vast majority of Eastern Europeans marching through are male, hence the British males lose out heavily on jobs!
I think in the e.u. they don't want young British men to marry young British women, so they put us out of work as much as they can. Those men and women who do work often are working like mad to pay for rent or mortgage and to pay and pay bilions to eastern Europeans in Eastern Europe! it keeps them from being free and from having children!
Mass immigration meanwhile does the rest, combined with absurd e.u. trading policies of self-destruction and a henious world-banking system that British banks tend to use, lending British money out all over the world (and sometimes going bankrupt).

alexander, what have the poles or any other eastern europeans got to do with the graff above on post 1.they have just as much right to work here as we have to work over there.
Yo Brian. Lets talk economics rather than the pseudo science of sociology!
Interesting point. I think?. I was told at University that Sociology Degrees were a way of analysing an unemployment queue before you joined one?

Brian, Alexander doesn`t mention the Poles above mate. As you say, eastern europeans have the right to work over here, which should be within limits, not en masse, as seems to be the case from what I see and hear.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

Colin, thank you for that! You expressed that what I have been explaining too, that people can come to Britain and also work here, and also stay, but in limits.
And we should have a democratic right to decide in the matter!
It should not be decided over our heads!
Brian, why don't you try making a brief research on Internet, and pretend to yourself that you want to go to Poland to find work, to earn some money, without speaking a work of Polish (most Poles coming here don't want to speak our language and don't need to in order to get work). You would find that you would not stand a chance in ...wherever... of getting any job in Poland.
Also, try asking the Polish goverment to finance Britain with billions of pounds for free, as they get from us. They would tell you to go and ... never mind!
Brian, you are way out of perspective, and I see that for you, the term: fair play, and indeed the word 'fair' in how people should behave towards one another and how a government should behave to the People it is supposed to represent, is somewhat in need of an overhaul. No economy can function that way, Brian, by importing masses from other countries to work and writing off millions of the Country's own citizens, including the young and very young.
Brian, do you actually care at all for unemployed British people? I do!

I am not sure what your problem is with the Poles but it borders on racism and Hitlers doctrine in Mein Kempf.
Firstly you say that most Poles can't or won't speak English.Incorrect.They are taught the English language at school it's a pre-requiste as the Polish govt realises that English is the language of commerce and arts.More Poles speak English than the English speak Polish. This countrys nationals are so lazy at learning foreign languages that we are the laughing stock of Europe!!
Secondly this country cannot operate a quota system against EC nationals so the Poles are free to come and seek employment. So get use to it.
Thirdly at least the Poles want to and do work not like the idle who feel that the country owes them a living and they don't need to work cos the govt will give them benefits, free house, take care of their illegitimate off springs and then care for them through prison, drug rehabilatation schemes and finally old folk homes having never worked a day in their God forsaken drug fuelled, anti Polish, booze ridden lives.
Did some strikingly good looking Polish lad run off with your missus or something??It must be something painful for you to continually deride and belittle a nation you know very little about but which you critise at every opportunity on every thread on this forum as being the cause of all this countrys ills.

I am English by birth and British by Nationality and therefore I feel able to comment on my fellow compatriot having witnessed first hand the inability of some and the unwillingness of others to work.See Sue Nicholas comments on the state of todays British born single mothers or tune in to Jeremy Kyle to witness first hand a cross section of 'some' of todays youth culture.Watch the late night police programmes that deal with binge drinking,so called 'joy riding' and related drug offences and the related crimes.
But thats not the issue at least my comments have provoked a reaction from you which Alexs comments on Poles in his previous multitude of postings have failed to do.
So its ok to slag off the Poles,Blacks etc but not the English.Fair enough at least I know the ground rules.

A European Commission survey found 65.9% of UK respondents only spoke their native tongue - by far the highest proportion among the EU countries polled.
