23:2580220when, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny rein-deer,
with a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and call'd them by name:
"Now, Stewing! Now, Braising! Now, Steaming, and Baking!
"With Fried, Basted, Roasted what feasts they are making!

10:2780246Not a very good idea thinking of the Rudolf image. No, I would not buy one but I would eat one.
At the same time it is a very good advertising campaign, there is a thread with the stores name in the title on this forum and we are posting about them.

10:5380250Why do carnivores always seem to be so defensive and aggressive about their meat-eating? I am veggie but I don't give a rats if you eat meat or not. It is the welfare of the animal that matters, and it should matter to you whether or not you eat meat. There are so many boring meat eaters who seem to want to wave bacon sandwiches in veggie faces. I don't wave my (rather delicious) mushroom strogonoff or lentil loaf in your face or expect you to eat the way I eat.
And Howard is right - even a meat eater must be able to see the potential own-goal for lidl!!

15:0880269bern,i am a meat eater, but dont wave bacon butties in front of veggies noses.never have done never will.oh by the way i have eaten a veggie meal once or twice in my life time.

15:5880286Metaphorical waving of bacon butties, Brian. As soon as anyone starts to talk about non-meat-eating the meat eaters tend to get on their hind legs and brandish their carnivorous habits like a badge of honour!! Tedious.
Penny - can I ask what you mean? I am clueless!!

I just think the target audience at Lidl will probably have children in tow and they may be a little dismayed by the eating of Rudolph. If they can make the connection.

16:5780297i had no idea that an animal was given to the baby jesus, seems rather inappropriate.
mind you, a lot better than giving a pig to the baby mohammed

17:2580302I have never waved a bacon buttie in someone's face and am totally confused on how one does it.
Presumably one has a pipe (in my case though I can understand a cigarette in others) in one hand and a pint in the other.
With both hands busy one wonders how the bacon buttie might be brought into sight. The whole thing sound awfully Freudian and I might suggest that certain Forumites realise that in opposing various things they are actually showing their psychoses?
Presumably these veggie nazis are merely nodding in the direction of the aforementioned bacon buttie and it is delusional cravings brought on by protein deficiency which suggest that they are being waved in your face?

18:0280306It's often said that the smell of a bacon buttie is the biggest cause of veggies returning to meat eating, and they know it hence the metaphoricalism

18:0280307I like meat and I am not afraid to try unfamiliar things. Likewise I like vegetables. But I have to say that a meal without meat is far preferable to a meal without vegetables. Each to his/her own. But the worst torture is being the only person on the camp site with no bacon!

18:1280312the smell of bacon being grilled does get the taste buds going, i know of many jewish people that succumb to the bacon roll.
they can avoid pork and ham easily though.

19:2080336*shrugs*
some people will, some people wont.
I personally only want to get some Lebkuchen this year, and proper decent yummy ones, not the horrible awful ones that some shops sell. German shops only tend to be the ones to have them, unless Guzzler is heading over the pond, at which point I may BEG him to get me some!

22:1680365When I was a meat eater I loved bacon, pheasant, partridge, venison, black pudding...............
Bob, if I could spell a raspberry I would send you one, but I would probably be accused of being a rampant fruitarian.......
