It will also put the squeeze on Tesco and even Aldi to some extent.

I think Tesco will suffer badly when Lidl open there, no tears from me though.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Went this morning as I had things I wanted to buy there. Again very busy and clearly many of those shopping had not been to a Lidl before given some of the remarks I heard! I was interested to see a couple of people getting off the 12 bus from Deal and heading into Lidl. It will be a bit of a chilly wait for the bus back in that exposed spot!

We are waiting until Sunday to let the surge die down! Aldi was packed as ever this morning. People do for some reason denigrate Lidl, as far as I'm concerned it's brilliant.
Netto on the other hand was something else!

I won't be using it as I don't like big stores and prefer M & S for food and Poundland for the rest of the stuff I need both of which are nearly opposite each other in the town centre. I use Sainsbury's near Folkestone bus station sometimes as it seems smaller than most supermarkets and is easier to get to than Whitfield.

You'll have a longer walk to M&S come the Spring, Howard! Mind you, there will be a Poundland there as well.....

I am rather expecting Stagecoach to connect a bus service to St James Lew, at present only the 68 goes near twice an hour in the day time. With the multi screen cinema, restaurants and 24/7 gym an evening service would surely pay its way.
Latest on opening is late February so Stagecoach need to make a decision soon.

Howard, what it really needs is for the council to allow buses to use Cannon Street so that diverting other routes via the Market Square would not involve a lot of 'round-the-houses' routing. I remember the good old days when we had crew changes at the M&S bus stop (or Priory Street for the 97/97A) - that changed when the one-way system came in.

Isn't it more likely they're just using it as somewhere to sleep overnight?
