Our cllrs are not interested and never seem to fight for Aycliffe and seem to pass the buck.
This is the latest damage from Lorrie’s up Aycliffe by lost lorry doing a three point turn…

I have given up on our local councillors for Aycliffe… so frustrating when they always pass the buck...
in others words cannot be bother to help the people who elected them.
Good evening Gary,
Thank you for your communication.
I can only agree with your sentiments, however, this is a matter for The Kent Highways of Kent County Council.
Regrettably there is precious little I can come up with, other than for you to continue to voice your concerns ith Ms Natalie Elphick, the Member of Parliament for our area.
Have a good evening,
That same councillor also told me in an e-mail to directly contact Viola about the state of estate after our refuse collection and no one was coming round to pick up the litter…

Lastest reply from our wonderful DDC Councilor about Lorrie’s coming on Aycliffe estate
Good evening Mr Dodd,
Thank you for your email.
I appreciate your frustration.
Alas, I can only repeat to your good self that the issue is one that you need to contact Kent Highways about.
Dover District Council has no say on this matter.
Kind regards,
I informed my councillor that I have contacted Kent Highways and our local MP about permanent signs to stop Lorrie’s coming on the estate…and that is the reply
Can someone please tell me what is the point of having a DCC councillor…?

Translation:
I know you are frustrated but I am not interested, please stop expecting me to care about my constituents.
My advise would be to keep e-mailing as your good self is duly entitled to do.
Good luck Gary just don't give up.

i would have at minimum expected your district coucillor to have written to KCC/KH on your behalf and would have thought they would have copied in the 2 KCC councillors (Cllrs Collor & Richardson) or advised you who they were so you could include them in future communications.

Gary - trying contacting Neil Baker at KCC who has responsibility for Highways and Thomas Williams who is in charge of highways team. I’ve had a good response from both when I’ve contacted them. It’s best to escalate and go directly to the top of the chain. Hope that helps.

Had a Labour canvasser knock on my door last night… no idea what Dover TAP was. Also informed him the our two labour councillors do nothing for Aycliffe and pass the buck.
I said so why should I vote Labour?
Mentioned road signs to stop Lorrie’s coming on the estate and had no idea about the lorry park on South Military Road.
Would be nice if they did a bit of research before trying to get my vote. That is for any party.

Can’t say I’m surprised by that Gary, but every time I suggest a local independent MP is what we need, one who really understands the problems of Dover, I’m told I’m wasting my breath and vote. Well, with the current crop of party hopefuls I don’t hold much hope for an improvement at Aycliffe any time soon. I certainly wouldn’t give my vote to either of the two main party candidates. But apparently Tapp seems to be capable of almost walking on water!!!
