Well, I have lived in this area for a number of years now and both my girls went to the Grammar School. When they first started there at age 11, I was particularly worried about the junction at Castle Ave/Park Ave as trying to cross there with traffic coming from 4 directions is very dangerous indeed during term time. There are also pupils from St Edmunds and of course the little ones from St Richard's and Charlton as well. We tried back then to get a crossing but low and behold were given the fatality stance
Trying to drive out of Castle Ave at the Frith Road end is frustrating at the best of times, they tear around that corner, it definitely needs looking at.

Sid...
I do not think anyone has "assumed" driver fault but the odds are looking that way. The car had no apparent damage so that rules out burst a tyre. Drivers do drive much to fast along Barton Road and into Frith Road.
Colette...
Maybe the crossing could be moved nearer to the junction or traffic lights put in, that would surely slow the traffic down at the junction.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Went to visit Mum today who is not very well, and there are skid marks across the road from near the entrance to the Girls Grammar to Avenue Road stopping at the Post Box,I am not an expert but to me that means speed.
Jan there are 2 lots of crossing lights, and we brought up that there are no safety barriers as at Astor School, although in the last 2 accidents the barriers would not help.
The problem is how to stop the speed in Barton Road/Frith Road how about a roundabout on that corner, traffic would have to slow down approaching it and wouldn't be able to build up speed going down Frith Road, problem is it would cut down the visibility even more. The only answer is 20mph and enforcement,Camera's and Police.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Wish her well from all of us John and good luck for the 13th.
You're probably right about Sandwich, but every Town has their rebel.

Wishing your Mum well and lots of luck on the 13th, so awful for her having to travel so often and so far in the last couple of weeks especially when she is poorly
