i don't think that paul w would have taken umbrage with the post from chris p.
all it said was that government and shadow ministers will say anything when they have their backs to the wall, and are in the home town of the problem.
we have a new hospital guaranteed, remember?
sue
would you say that you enjoy the support of your constituents in river?

Yes I do enjoy working for the people in River and Alkham.I think some die in the wold labout voters support me .If I did not enjoy it I wpould have given up years ago.

20:005530you certainly did recieve the most votes of all councillors, i applaud you.
one third of the residents of River ward voted for you, you may have to work harder to get the vote of the two thirds that didn;t next time.
i wish you well in your quest.

22:205540Yes Howard work harder get those people out to vote .Shame relection on society who donot use their vote. What happens is people unfortunately die and you have to then find new support. When I started on the council the new voters this year were not born ,so you have to build up a relationship with the young. That is not achieved by calling them yobs, but taking an interest in them .

I share part of your view;
Sue does work hard, and i have\ to say when she was in oppositon we worked closely on many projects, she was then very open and often controversial, much to the disgust of Nigel at the time, but since she became a cabinet member that edge has gone from her.
Its now about just taking the party/officers line, shame realy cos she has a lot more to offer, i believe(if you understand this) Sue was a better opposition member than cabinet member.
I totaly disagree with johns view on sue being anywhere near a socialist view
never was and never will
she does work hard as do many other cllrs

22:505550Hullo me old mate .Pity you were not at cabinet today I disagreed with the proposed recommendation s twice .Your mates were there so heard what I said and I even had my vote recorded. Not lost the edge .Nigel was very quiet.I certainley prolonged the debate on what they thought would go through un challenged.I even brought up the subject of vast sums of money being spent on projects when i could do with the money to do more houses and shop fronts up .Chief Excutive had to come in at that point .

23:195557Could I say that, while Sue and I rarely agree on anything, I have always found her to be very conciencious and hard working. Quite a few times I have passed people with problems outside of DTC's remit on to her and she has always dealt fairly with them. Long may she continue to be a thorn in all parties sides and I too am dying to know where this waste is going.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

07:505566I think it is important to be clear that most of the postings on here about and to councillors appear to be legitimate challenges and not personal attacks. Working for local government in any capacity is draining. However, we do have the right to challenge and reflect to public servants and it is important to do so. The best tool a public servant has to do the job is themselves, and how they present that tool matters.

Im sure you did challenge the officers, all im saying is you had a cutting edge when in opposition probably cos you had nowt to lose, I feel that has gone a bit.(just a personal observation)
And no, im glad i wasn't at cabinet, those dreary days gone, thankfully

Don't want to dwell on this, do feel you changed when in the cabinet, and you say you havn't not much more that can be said.
I just look at the play area debate and your postings, i'm sure in opposition you wouldn't have taken the line you did, but not to worry at the end of the day there are many working hard for Dover and the District those that do are the ones i envy, but sadly as Sue knows many others get carried in this lot, if only we could get rid of dead wood, but who would decide who that is? All parties hav them sadly not enough people coming forward to do job.
Elections don't decide it, as more people don't vote than vote.
interesting thought there.
but life will go on.
On anothr posting John made the point on the opposition not getting publicity, thats a fact of life John as you know but you should moan at those people who you have told me you are friendly with!!! might make a difference!! you know where i'm coming from.
might come up to full council wednesday

i must take issue with on our top brass presenting their tools correctly.

19:396096they do need to speed up the ticketing process, sometimes queues form outside of the reception building.
all members of english heritage and friends od dover castle still have to go through the ticketing process even though they are not handing over any money.
