17:2811699Hi Roger, You did put on your e-mail 2pm, so anyone leaving it last minute to get down should still see them marching.
The Liason man Simon did tell me today that 56 was not quite right on marching members, as it is actually closer to 70 so we should be in for a super treat, and the extra good news is that
IT IS EXCLUSIVE TO DOVER as the band are NOT playing in canterbury, just visiting the Cathedral, so this is a big catch for little Dover, for once we are not a close 2nd, but very much number 1
BBC radio Kent will be broadcasting my interview in the morning on the Bob Dale show, and they may also be linking up direct with the band to talk to some of the kids while they are travelling down to Kent in the morning. Good stuff

11:1911748THE BAND ARE ON THEIR WAY FOLKS !!!!!!!
At 8.50am this morning BBC Radio Kent did my interview and then linked up live to the coach to speak to band director Dr Ed Canava, sadly link up was lost half way through the chat, but it appears the band are looking forward to being in Dover later today, so tell as many people as you can to get into town and give the kids a big Dover welcome.
I am as nervous as I was on our very 1st ever carnival day, been up since silly O'clock making sure I have everything the DCAL girls will need as well as the stuff I need. Head is pounding but Ibrufen on standby lolol
See you all later I hope Lv mand x

18:0011756I witnessed the Arapahoe Marching Band in Dover today and I was moved to tears.
What a fantastic well drilled and accomplished band! I cannot remember a better New Years Eve Day in Dover.Everyone I spoke with were mesmerised by these youngsters.Words fail me.
Mandie you are a star that shines over Dover and sends rays of hope to glisten down on this God forsaken town.A bloody marvel.
It is amazing what one individual lady from the Black Country can do without financial backing or support. I hope Mandie gets the credit she deserves and that the Dover shambles of a council do not try to steal her limelight and thunder.
Well bloody done MANDIE.

18:1111758Well done Mandie, it was brilliant, I hope that the Marching Band from Colorado USA enjoyed their visit to Dover as much as we all did watching them.

19:0511765MANY THANKS GUYS!!! THEY SURE WERE AWESOME WEREN'T THEY????
I could not have done today alone without the help of DDC's Jess Murray, Highways Gordan Measey, Kent Police Steve Noddings.
My superb marshalling team of Roy Stone, Dan the man, John Goodwin and Stewart Dimmock. Those 4 guys today were the bees knees.
To Mary and marites for looking after my carni girls, marek for transport .
It feels like the Oscars lolol
The girls and boys from the band were an absolute credit to their Country and school, and it was a privilage to have spent time with such a wonderful group of people, and all their chaperones and helpers.
Biggest Thanks of the day today though goes to the people of Dover who gave this band such a wonderful welcome.
I am quite emotional right now as I type, but I do believe that today friendships were formed that will last a life time. I finally got to have my dream.
Will try and get some pics up in the next hour or so.
Mand x

19:0611766Well done Mandie for getting this truly amazing band to come to Dover, also well done to John & Stewart and the other marshals and the local police for an excellent day.
The band were fantastic and so were the towns people in showing their appreciation, (There were a few morons outside the Eight Bells taking the mick, a few kids who thought it was terribly funny to throw cream eggs at the band as they warmed up and a group of teenage lads who took the mick near the end (promptly put in their place by the local police thankfully)).
It was nice to see some of the forumites there, Nigel, Roger, Posh Barry, Howard, Stewart, John, Mandie of course and I am sure others that I missed.

19:1311768I had to laugh earlier as I was loitering in Market Square waiting for the band to get ready, a rather posh couple walked into the square from the direction of the Discovery Centre; I overheard the man complaining to his lady wife "and they even put the name discovery centre all in lower case which is just appalling".

19:5111772Just to add my congratulations to Mandie for getting the Marching Band here.
They were truly excellant and an absolute pleasure to watch. I saw Barry WS taking piccies, so I guess they'll be up soon.
I'm sure that everyone who saw them, were filled with complete admiration.
Happy New Year.
