00:0129225Real sorry to hear that Terry is unwell, my best wishes for a speedy recovery at the KCH - good hospital to be in though - always treated well there.
On the PC note - isn't always the way that these things work so well and when they DO fail it's catastrophic and beyond our ken!
My mobile just died for no apparent reason and is beyond repair, so had to get a complete new handset.
Please bring back the days of circuits you could trace on a pcb and cars you could repair with a spanner and feeler guage - sigh.
Oh Boy!, That'll be the day.........

06:5129229If only Buddy, if only.
But we do have advanced technology - and it's great when it works well and a bugger when it doesn't.
Terry was admitted on Saturday with renal failure; as you all know from Jean's experience, you can live pretty well with kidney failure, but it can depend on why they failed.
Good Luck Terry - get well soon.
Roger

20:3329263Yes, I'm back! I spent 3 days in the KCH after being admitted as an emergency on Saturday morning. Amongst other stuff I've been taking Ramipril for years to control the blood pressure. Earlier this year the pain killers for the arthritis weren't working so I was prescribed Diclofenac. Unfortunately, in a small percentage of cases the combination destroys the kidneys. Luckily it has been caught in time and I have now stopped taking both. After I have settled down and had more tests I will be reviewed for an alternative.
It all explains why I have been feeling very rough the past few weeks with what seemed to be a permanent hangover. So if you've met me in the street and I haven't been chatty you now know why.
It has made me take the decision to slow down and give up a number of things including LRCF. The only things I shall carry on with are the odd p.a. systems that I do such as Remembrance Sunday (and Wednesday 11th November this year, unveiling of a new name plate on the war memorial) and Hellfire Corner and the Dover Film Festival.
Thanks for all your good wishes.
Terry

Honoured that Hellfire Corner is among those things that you are carrying on with - but do look after yourself....

07:2229280That's great news Terry, welcome back and welcome home.
I'm sure it's the right thing to do, but only you know what you enjoy doing most and what your priorities are: looking after number one has to be the most important priority.
Jeanette and the rest of the LRCF will thank you for all your help in the past and look forward to what's ahead.
Take care Terry.
