Alas Howard, Brian's rates were high and he's depleted my backhanders budget!
Were you refering to a trip with SeaFrance or MyFerryLink in 66?
I imagine the 'Where is this place' thread would be quite challenging if you were let loose in Calais with your camera!

Laurie using the link you gave it shows £25 for 24hr return very clearly.

Now it's giving me the £25 fare, there's obviously an issue somewhere.

sea france laurie, the last time i used them was about 6 years ago, good idea about the "where is it" in calais - should have thought of that myself with so many members familiar with the town.

But, much as I would like to try out MFL, tomorrow I shall be on P&O. In a couple of weeks we shall be going over for a few days so the day trip wine will not figure in the calculation. But Transeuropa is looking a front runner for that trip.

an important piece from the link.
A statement signed by CC group chairman Alisdair Smith said: "In taking this decision, the Group had regard to the scope and complexity of the inquiry, including the difficulty of assessing the effectiveness and practicality of remedy options in this case and the need to provide a fully reasoned decision within the statutory time frame.
"The Group considers that completion of its investigation and the publication of its final report, including the remedies process will not be possible within the original reference period."
for those who prefer plain english it says "we ain't got a bleeding clue what this is about and we are playing for time hoping someone will tell us".

An elephant in the room that I can't really pass comment on, other than to agree it is a complex case.
Have a nice trip tomorrow Peter.

My opposite number in Calais states there is no local or regional government financial subsidy for MyFerry & totally supports the project . He praises the business risk investment of the crew.
Laurie I travelled EuroTunnel but wished I had not. The train broke down & caused 1.5 hour delay, so the advantage of time saving was lost. EuroTunnel rolling stock is looking shabby & the Folkestone terminal is beginning to look rundown & appears to lack proper maintainence investment. Pity.
By the way DDC takes the business rates for EuroTunnel as a quirk of the Channel Tunnel Act, so we will have to be fair in cross channel useage. I will try MyFerry in the future.
