S'cuse my ignorance, is this Premnaths surgery? If it is and they operate in the same way as Shepherdswell, the perscription goes directly to the in house pharmacy and is filled there and then, no option given.

that's the one. i had a problem years ago where a surgery kept sending my prescriptions to a local chemist despite my asking them to leave it for me to collect.
eventually i got the primary care trust to intervene.

# 21....quite right many of us in Shepherdswell use other Doctors for `several reasons`
...those without cars have no choice.
In-house pharmacies must be money making machines.............
Dr Premnath has featured several times on a local paper front page...........

yes lesley thats the same geezer,
hes the representative for doctors on some body, has a bit of sway.
but not the best of doctors from my experience.
sounds like this new practice if the shepherdswell model owt to go by will be another disaster.
but lets see

dr premnath has been in the news a few times, the last one was when he moved into a temporary surgery and complained of the lack of space.

There won't be an in-house surgery - at least to start with.
Why are people so negative about a new much-needed facility, especially in this ward ?
I've walked around the new Medical Centre and there are no oak panels or expensive furniture (although all new furniture is not cheap); I hope to have a proper introduction to it quite soon.

Here's another that will not be using this facility, stick to little chemist down further, Premnath has already tried the in house prescription with the portacabin, a lot of people complained, they like to have a choice, I think its do it my way or no way, go somewhere else to be treated, that's the way it seems to come over.

Shepherdswell and Elvington, not Canterbury. I believe he lives in Canterbury though, and I know their practice manager Dilip very well, he used to run the PO and pharmacy in Hales Drive, Canterbury, when we lived there.

He has a business in Canterbury, something to do with White Cliffs Management Ltd I believe, I did have some paper work on it, when I protested against the 100 hour pharmacy and portacabin, still cant make out how he got away with the portacabin

Dear Ms Amos, and Mr McSweeney, I have been reading the posts that refer to me, my Practice and my business.
I am, I will admit, disappointed with, and often confused by some of them.
I do feel that perhaps you have misunderstood some of the issues, including the pharmacy, the business, and the Practice.
I would be delighted to host you both (and anyone else interested) to observe the practice and the facility we have at Folkestone Road and at Shepherdswell, and to discuss the issues that have been the context of several posts in recent months and years, one of which even includes a member of our practice team.
I hope you will be interested in an open discussion which, I expect will give you a true orientation to our Practice.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Do feel free to ring the Practice and leave a message if I am not in.

Thank you for your posting Dr. Premnath.
I'm not sure of the reasoning or agenda (if there is one) of the theme of some of the postings, but I do feel that your investment(s) in the Folkestone Road and the ward I represent, is very welcome and when complete will certainly improve the area as well improve the facilities for local people.

No agenda as far as I can ascertain Roger just bafflement that from not having a pharmacy in the Folkestone Road we suddenly have two next door to each other. Local residents are also concerned as to why one needs to be open 100 hours a week.

Easy answer to that Howard, go to the out of hours GP service at Buckland Hospital and if you are given a prescription that you need urgently you are told to go to Tesco or White Cliffs pharmacy to get it.

May be there is no agenda as such, but there has definitely been some negative comments made.
I'd have thought that people would be pleased that they can get their drugs/tablets at (almost) any hour.
Something unrelated to this, is the increasing amount of small shops wanting to extend their drinks licence to 06.00.
