I am not sure which church She was talking about.
No Howard they are actually not against it.... But fighting for so many years is tiredsome. Also the fact, It has been said it will be nearly a automatic decline to get a play area?
The first Agenda they have is building houses etc.. fair enough.... If it is the case, why not be honest? At least they will accept it in the long run.
You see, I dont understand all this stuff. But when you do talk to People they sound bitter, tired and betrayed...
So you do go home in your own thoughts....

We've been through all the sites you have described Keith and they have all been discounted for various reasons.
My first preference has always been re-instating the Clarendon playing field but with new legislation coming being introduced, it makes it impossible to do what at first looks feasable.
I did think that having steps up to the play area and a winding slope for those in wheel-chairs/mobility scooters etc. would be O.K. but not so.
There would, I believe, only be a need to have the actual area where the particular play equipment is, levelled, but there are other quite serious issues with the Clarendon field site that weren't thought of 10 years ago when the equipment was removed through lack of investment.

What a shame that the rest of the "normal" children of an area are denied a play area simply because a site with suitable access for the very few local disabled children can not be found.
Before anyone reacts to my last sentence I am physically disabled myself and it is sad the majority are denied anything because of a small minority.

I agree Jan, but I would say that we're all "normal", just that some of us have physical constraints that deem some as disabled and they have to be (by law) catered for.
If the rules were to be changed then there are a number of ways where things could be done and some could reduce costs., so as to enable the section 106 money to be used for the actual equipment,

Keith many People living local and used to live local said, regardless they will not get a playground as this is not a Priority and will be a automatic turn down by KCC as this needs to get granted from them?. I have no idea on this and only voicing what I have been told. How true this is.. again I dont know.
Roger would the lower ground of clarendon place not be acceptable? or would this be too close to residents? It definately be more safe... I think. all it needs to be looked at then is the levelling part.
Also it might be worth to shed a bit more light on what I have just written above. Does it really have to go through KCC?

Politicians KCC and DDC talk the talk
its not time to do the walk with action.
It's DDC that can move this forward
the dosh is said to be there
sites have been suggested
ways of getting round the issues also given
over to the politicians,,,,

Keith,
I'm currently getting help from DDC over a play area and I know from discussions over what they can do that they have helped a lot of areas recently, and are helping still more. We too have the problem of finding a site that meets current legislation requirements, there's no way round that.
I don't know anything about money that was available and lost for Clarendon but generally there is no funding directly for play areas, they largely need to be funded from grants. I suggest you go and look at Guston and see the long list of sponsors that they have had to approach to get their funding, and then only once they had the site.
Maybe it's time you put your stirring spoon on Ebay and donated the proceeds to start a funding pot

ah yes legislative requirements!!
i find it ironic that the e.u have been very forthcoming on providing funding for play areas but provided the red tape that holds them back.
as well as guston, capel have punched above their weight in going through the rigmarole required to get the right result for their community.

not sure if i have mentioned this before but the priory zone does not have a play area!!
these photos were taken yesterday and hopefully show the climb and distance from clarendon place.
not that would deter heike of course.

previously on 3 levels, football pitch, that is from where Howards photo was taken, half way down from there, was bigger children's swings, slide climbing frame, also turntable, nearer bottom small children's area with swings climbing frame and small slide, cant think what else there was on the smaller part

I just wondering, I pass the playground in Folkestone many times. This is on a slope too. How do you justify this one then???
Just curious
