Roger (friend and mucker)
th full council did still vote and came to a decision diffrent to the one made at planning, and thats interesting in itself, I can only presume therefore that a completely new argument was put forward at planning to change the minds of c;llrs when it went to planning
As to who did/didn't vote for/.against
I feel it better to decide whats best for Dover, not realy bothered what party they come from

I seem to recall that at full council, the majority of Councillors voted for the big-screen and at Planning Committee, the majority for it too, so where's this different decision Keith ?
A full council meeting and a planning committee meeting is totally different Keith, how can you compare the two ?
One is based on views and opinions and the other is based of facts, rules and guidelines.

Roger im in danger of doing the dreaded differing in opinions with you!!!! lol
I would hope both full council and planning were full of facts????
As I say I dont care if all the cllrs were from the monster raving loony party(would be fun tho lol)
as long as its best for Dover

THey did not have all the facts .The planning committee were advised to visit other sites The offer was declined .One of the objectors spent a whole day looking at I believe twelve sites .We have received an anteresting report from English Hereitage .Cllr Richardson was substituted on the night of planning .Our Leader was out of the country when the planning decision was made .The deputy Leader subed for Cllr Richardson .There is a story yet untold .
Then for Gods sake would someone please tell it/them? The innuendo and implications are flying around and are becoming irritating in their impotence. Is there anyone able to tell a few truths without prevarication?

seems like our susan is digging a hole for herself.
though she is not a member of the politburo anymore she is still a member of the ruling party.
so she is telling us half of the story.

It looks gi-normous, four or five floors, the site also takes in the car park area next to current building.

Which begs the question: Where are the new residents going to park?

CoronaVirus has sped on change by about 5 years.
We've all learnt to shop on-line and loads of zombie business and shops will never open again.
A close relative who is I/c all current accounts for a national bank is working from home untill Sept at least and their very expensive London HQ is empty.
The main call out for the AA is for flat batteries since no-ones moved their car for a month.
I was visited last week by someone from London who had hired a car at £10/hour (new Audi).
Most cars, a depreciating asset, are parked up for 95% plus of the time.
Dover has a superb rail service to London.
Toto, we are no longer in Kansas.
The idea of providing parking spaces for the cars of town residents makes about as much sence as municipal horse troughs.

Maybe you are correct that this thing has sped up the decline of the car. Wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. But until then:
What about getting to and from work for those who don't work in London?
In a town where I can think of at least three residential areas where it is almost impossible to park, I think it's still a relevant point. It's restricted parking down most of that way during the day isn't it?

I used to live very near TTWD and parking overnight in Morrison's car park or on Park Avenue was not unknown; one of the main reasons we moved.

It's already collapsed.
In the 12 months to March, private new-car sales financed by Finance and Leasing Association members accounted for 95.6pc of the market.
The idiots were paying hire purchase in goods which They Would Never Own!
The scam was rather than paying off the loan you would UPGRADE to a new model.
It's ended. Car ownership is no more. Taxis + car rental will save you a fortune on investing in a depreciating load of metal which you rarely use.

They built houses on the old Hovetel hotel site on Snargate street without providing extra parking space.. The road already has a lot of flats.. so where are they all going to park.. bet the nearby residents will not pleased..
