15:2977381Nice picture`s there Ken, especially the Castle street one which I haven`t seen before. The castle there must have been the reason for such a number of photograph`s being taken down there over the years.

20:4277513Colin. The Castle Street one is unused so has no postmark. The lorry looks very WW1 so estimate that the photo was taken in the 1920's going by the woman in the foreground.
Heres the next batch.
This is postmarked 1958, but as there are quite a lot of 1940's cars I think an earlier date in the 50's is likely.
Dover Stage postmarked 1962 which goes with the cars. There is what looks like a 1930's/40's Jaguar saloon. Note the East Kent bus garage.
Marine Parade postmarked 1965. The cars are 1940's so think this is an early 1950's image.
The postmark is smudged but is either 1954 or 1964. The cars and people look like added images (a bit like the images you get when developers do an artists impression of a building).
More tomorrow.

20:4777519Great pictures Ken, and nice to see a few more 50s and 60s picture`s. That first one of the Eastern docks has the best view I`ve ever seen of the railway lines up there. That lower one is more likely 1964 as the railway line`s gone, though post cards are normally a few years behind, but then again, the railway track is still missing.

20:5677527Colin. You have a point, the railway was gone by the early 60's. Just chance that two 1940's cars were in view.
I've got another one that shows the rail lines which I'll scan in the next batch.

Looking at my larger sized scans the black & white on does show the rails, while the colour one seems to be an artistic adaptation of the black & white one (or one very similar) and the rail lines have been turned into a pavement. The line of the outer rail on one exactly matches the line of the pavement on the other. (The red car looks to have had a nasty accident when you look closely at the enlargement).
As far as I can remember there was never a pavement on that side of the road.

22:4077578The terminal one is interesting - could almost be a classic car show !!
Mine is dated 1960 so doesn't help, but mid 50s sounds right
Been nice knowing you :)

22:4777581Re the Marine Parade, it looks like the ruins of Burlington Hotel are still there so it would be 1949 or before
