I would guess it was for fairly minor injuries and as much a courtesy trip than necessary, perhaps an xray for his whiplash claim

Minor injuries units actually set broken bones Reg but the general public think they are limited to cuts, bruises, sprains etc.

True enough, just seems odd to me for rta victims to be taken to minor injuries with the chances of internal trauma be more likely.

Maybe with all the problems proper A&E are having, ambulances are making more use of these quieter more local units for minor injuries, it would certainly make sense if they are.

Here's the latest hyperbolic nonsense about the NHS.
I'm sure the residents of Aleppo are devastated to hear of our "humanitarian crisis"

One wonders where all the money we spend on 'our' NHS goes?
Possibly the strain is something to do with the fact that we add a third of a million a year to our population by immigration?
(And before some self loathing idiot comes out with the totally specious argument that the NHS would not survive without immigrants, even if the NHS was totally staffed by bloody robots, an extra 300,000 patients a year would bring it to crisis point.)

It's heartening to know that they have a 5 year Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
I've made the mistake of assuming the NHS was to help sick people, but no, we're paying people good money to fill utterly pointless positions.

Paramedics with all their experience and equipment are ably qualified as to where they should take the patient.

I suspect the majority of us know what is the cause of the NHS problems.
1) To many highly paid Chiefs who are not up to the job.
2) Far to much paperwork.
3) Constant changes of policy by the government regardless of which party, they tend to rob Peter to pay Paul.
4) The foreigners who need important prolonged treatment for illnesses like TB etc.
5) "Possibly the strain is something to do with the fact that we add a third of a million a year to our population by immigration" as stated by the Captain.

As easy as it is to blame the NHS failure solely on immigration there are as Jan describes a number of different reasons for it's slow and painful demise. I can also add a complete resistance to any change by Doctors, Nurses, Administrators, Politicians and patients. We can't continue to fund and manage the NHS as we did 10, 20 and 50 years ago. It needs a radical overhaul otherwise it will eventually collapse.

No doubt a complete coincidence that Chairman of the Red Cross (see #6 above) also happens to be the executive chairman of Labour Party?

You are slipping up badly here Bob, he did hold those positions but doesn't now. Your link was from 2013.

Mea culpa. Must be another of the Fabian elite now in the job, on inflated salary, demanding the taxpayer spends even more, as it's everyone's human right to phone for an ambulance whenever they are overcome with their 'issues', making our (sic) NHS the
fifth largest employer on the planet.

On a positive note, it's nice to see that at least one NHS Trust is investing in Mental Health.
Let's just hope we haven't had to import a Museum Director from abroad! (Though somehow one suspects we are able to train enough Museum Directors in the UK whereas doctors and nurses seem to be a bit of a problem).

I wonder if Dover could perhaps borrow some tables from them to match up with the insane pile of junk we have near Morrisons.
