Last year and the year before Stewart wore a naval chief engineers uniform. Only trouble was his background got the better of him and he gave an army salute! Think jolly jack tar Stewart, dirty hands. Keep those palms down.
How about a Forum team? Admiral PB at the helm!

I appear to be a mechanic in "another place", which might be useful................despite not knowing which end of the ship is fore or aft......

Terry do you have any other stalls or activities in Pencester on Saturday ? food stalls, perhaps the Curry Club cooking fresh tasty Indian food ?
As it starts at noon, what time does it finish ? I'd have come along on Monday Terry, If I'd known.

There will only be one other stall Roger. It's our first attempt at running it and we are making it low key. To confuse the issue, it was to have been part of the Hospice Fete but that fell through. Pity really, the old Hospital Fete was always very popular.
The finish time? How long is a bit of string?

Time for thanks to all concerned with the Paper Boat Race. What started off as a fairly slow day gathered momentum. In the end £197 was raised for the Pilgrims Hospice. Not a huge amount but every little helps. It was the first time that LRCF had staged such an event. We can now build on the lessons that we learned and go for something bigger next year with stalls and entertainment.
Firstly, I'd like to thank the sponsors who were (in no particular order) the KM Group, P&O, Ramada Hotel, Boots the Chemist, Dover Hotel and Guest House Group, La Salle Verte and Cross's Stationers.
Secondly, the people who helped on the day, Jeanette Harper and Maureen Nunn who manned the registration desk, Elizabeth Fisher our First Aider and the three marshals who kept everyone in some sort of order(!), Chris Precious, Stewart Dimmock and Paul Sullivan. And then of course there's Ian Lillford who made sure the course was clear and rescued any boats that became trapped and Karris who was also in the water at the finishing line pulling out the boats.
Also to be mentioned are the Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Sue Jones, her "minder" for the day the Deputy Town Clerk Julia Bensted, The Dover Town Council for the use of the Pavilion and Jessica Murray at Dover District Council for the use of Pencester.
This was the eighth Paper Boat Race. It was started by Mike Webb at the TCM from an original idea by Mike McFarnell. The London Road Community Forum is proud to have had the chance to carry this unique and truly potty tradition.

Well done Terry and all those you mentioned - can you also thank who ever organised the weather.
Great fun and I won a meal for two at the Ramada - quite ironic as I used to work there and offered quite a few tables as prizes for good causes.
I understand that there were loads more than last year's, so you did very well and as you say Terry, now you can build a bigger one for next year.
We may all need the Pilgrims Hospice one day, so it's a kind of insurance to support them.
Well done, once again.
Roger

Great to hear it all went well for such a good cause.
