Is it just me, or is the Post Office in Pencester rubbish?! Not necessarily blaming individuals, but just observing that every time I have been in there there are a maximum of 2 people serving a lengthy queue, although occasionally someone will appear briefly to serve as a third at a counter, but very rarely. The queue seems to go on forever, it is a furnace, the service is sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow, the people serving appear oblivious to the need for speed or even courtesy, and frankly (pardon the pun) if it were a private service provider they wouldn't get away with it. In my experience it is a very very very poor service - surely I can't be the only one!!?

I quite agree. I absolutely hate queing and will go to almost any lengths to avoid it but the place I dread most is the Post Office where I have never been able to esape the dreaded Q. There are so many better thing to do in life than Q.

strange that when ive used pencester post office on a number of ocassions there has been four people behind the counter.
I would call that very strange Brian. It has never occured for me and I've been using it for over a decade...........once or twice, possibly by accident, an extra body has slipped in for a nanosecond. I may, of course, have been hallucinating in the extreme heat and fatigue..............

Never use the pencester post office always fined it to busy, use the one at Whitfield always get fast cheery service.
It (Pencester) is too busy because they have too few staff, and those they do have are too slow and appear less than competent or courteous. I say again - if it were a private service they would not get away with it. Well, they won't have my business again - I will try one of the others you have all recommended - thank you.

if you get there for 0830 you will be out in 5 minutes.
Tail wagging the dog, isn't it? If the customer has to adapt to the service instead of the other way around the service sucks.

River PO is beautifully anachronistic in the best way, Buckland and Whitfield are friendly too. I agree about the main PO, it annoys me too. Maybe the staff dislike it as well? Should have kept the old building, it felt like a post office.

Yes Bern you are totally right in what you say about the main post office. Unless you have a good half hour to waste and feel like standing idle for that time it's definitely a no-go area. The one at the bottom of Whitfield Avenue is good as long as you don't catch the oaps or young mums first thing, or as Jan said, the one at Whitfield is very good, I always use that one too.
I'm trying to work out what dogs and worms have to do with the post office
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
