Don`t forget, even though the pier cafe is currently closed, there`s excellent viewing at the end of the pier with always something going on. On this wonderful hot summer`s day, there were two cruise ships alongside, the vessels dealing with the removal of that sunken wreck, yacht`s coming in, various ships out in the channel, the coast of France, and last but not least, an endless procession of ferries going in and out, all on that lovely sheet of calm water. I selected the above picture out of 17 down there today, the David Church, an everyday trip, but on a day like today, just looks so majestic gliding through the water. And a nice seafood salad from the stall up the clock tower afterwards.

Good seafood on that stall Colin; we often get our shellfish from them. Highly recommended.

Watch this space! If all goes to plan, the Prince of Wales pier cafe will be open soon under the management of some familiar faces; won't go any further in case the plans come to naught. Good if it happens, though!
True friends stab you in the front.
Nice to see the David Church just coming back from having a dump (their words!).
Our harbour is indeed a beautiful and busy place. Lots going on today. Dinghies and windsurfers and a really beautiful catamaran moored up in the bay. However, don't know if the yachtsmen will still find their dinghy where they left it. Hope so.

I noted that catamaran there today Diana as well, though I didn`t record it for posterity. As you say, there`s always something going on if one is only prepared to just sit down and look. Folkestone, Margate, Ramsgate, Deal amongst MANY other towns, have nothing to compete with what we`ve got down there. Unless of course, you don`t like the sea, boats, fresh sea air, ....................... ANDY, it will be great to see the Prince of Wales pier cafe open again, so much potential there.

nearly agree colin, ramsgate has a waterfront full of bars, cafes and bistros full of people all the year round and folkestone has its creative quarter.
deal seafront is about as dull as dull can be.
we are endowed with an excellent promenade, before and after the changes and we look out at the ever changing panoramas at sea.
however, the churchill hotel is banged up as are so many beach cafes plus the one at the end of the pier, why would anyone choose to spend a day or evening at our seafront?

Howard, You are behind mate,Churchill now sold and will be open again soon, and when all the work is done it will go back to what it was and even now still lots of the public walking up and down there at night and first thing in the morning, still one of the best seafronts you can walk along .

I was thinking the same it is not compusory but very unwise to not wear them in the open sea.It would only take one big wave from a ship and all of them would have gone over the side
