looked out of the window about half an hour ago to see what the noise was about.
8 or so individuals covered in blood discussing things.
the police are now sorting things out with the usual suspects, what does one do with a blood soaked t shirt if the police do not take it away.?

It's all over town Howard. Thursday morning I called into Stembrook toilets for the usual reason and ended up helping 'lift' a passed out personage from a stall still littered with a freshly used syringe and empty Special Brew cans. An ambulance was called. The personage was still breathing and, as he was being monitored by a passing couple, I did not wait around, prefering to get my youngest daughter away from the spectacle.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

what made things worse was that a young lady has moved in next door this week with her 3 year old daughter and was naturally terrified.
i will give the old bill their due, they went into the house where some of the participants lived(against my strong advice),
i implored them to wait for back up.
they were met by total warmth and friendliness(the code of omerta comes into play), so no charges could be brought.
incidentaly they took the t shirt away with them.

As Chris says this is sadly a fairly regular occurrence across not only this, but all towns across the land.
Having lived and worked in many places across the country I find Dover to be generally, less problematic than most other towns of its size, this of course is not to excuse any anti-social behaviour, but to put it into context. As an example our nearest neighbour has a much greater level of this type of behaviour on a much more regular basis than here.

On Friday I went up to Curzon Hall for the Vote for it session,as I was talking to a friend of mine near Dickson Road a young lad came up and said have you got a phone on you as there is going to be a big fight around the corner,I said no but was just about to meet the PSCO so I shot round the road and by the South Road shop was over 50 children on each side of the road.
Just then Cllr Ronnie Philpott came along and I said there is going to be a fight,we both put our Council badges on,just really to show who we were,Ronnie went into the Shop and one lad came out and said there is a lady from the Council in there keeping her eye on us,I said there is a man from the Council out here doing the same.
Just then the PSCO drove past and parked in Curzon Road, and at that second a lad ran past me and thumped another lad,I went in and broke them up and the 2 lads went seperate ways.Th e agressor towards the PSCO's and I followed him pointing him out,all the other children gathered around,so Ronnie and I tried to persuade them to go home, one of the PSCO's stood with the lad who had been hit and waited for his parent to come and pick him up.The other refused to give his name but in true Dad's Army fashion his mate said ..don't tell her your name Patrick (name changed). What worried me is if there weren't enough People and the PSCO's around what would have happened.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
It is scary to think young people are caught up in this unnecessary behaviour. There has always been a degree of aggression when teenagers are trying to find their way and dealing with hormones, parents, peer pressure etc, but it has all been cranked up a notch in recent years when knives and guns have become more accepted as the norm. It has never been "right" to have a punch up, but "in the old days" if there was a brawl it was over with and the hotheads learned a lesson - now they could be killed. Those people using needles, knives, fists, they could be your or my sons or daughters if circumstances were different - everyone is some Mothers son or daughter. How do we protect ourselves and our families?

That certainly was fortuitous John.
As Bern said, in years gone by, there would be fights between a couple of lads and everyone egging them on; the sad part now is, knives and guns etc. are used.
Glad to hear that the trouble in your street has been cleared up Howard, does it kick off regularly, or just occasionally ?

Thats exactly the point..they don't see things in the same way as you do.They believe that married life kids house car work to be boring. So they want to 'enjoy life to the full' by hitting that buzz. This can be obtained by drugs or and drink.Shoplifting items just for the hell out of it.House burgulary gives them a high and a feeling of power by entering someone elses home ransacking it and taking away other peoples possessions.Fighting and sheer vandalism gives them street 'cred' and something to boast about to their mates or floozies. But the best form of street cred is 'going down' 'going away' doin' time'.
Until we address these problems society will continue to take massive steps backwards.

Unfortunately, you may as well ask why are the Krays so popular while the police that arrested them are ignored. Why do we remember the murderers and not the victims? Even in the soaps the most remembered and publicised characters are the villains. There is an obsession with the wrong fuelled by tabloids and gossip mags that is destroying the attractiveness of doing the right thing.
