06:5127400It isn't about choices, it's about irresponsible adults who buy booze for underage kids. Isn't that abuse? Shouldn't the police take it seriously?

11:3027418bern,it depends who is getting the abuse the kids or the person being pesterd to get it.it works both ways.

18:4427443No, it doesn't. If children are bought or given alcohol irrespeonsibly, it is abuse. Adults have a duty of care to the young and vulnerable, regardless of their manners.

BRIAN
Its about whether or not you feel strongly on this issue(and you from your postings appear to have strong views on some subjects)
If im ever asked by youths this outside the shop i do inform the shop keeper and the risk to his livelehood.

21:1127462that is exactly what most adults do keith, responsible shopkeepers like to be kept informed what is going on outside.

21:5727472i would much rather be sworn at by yoofs than buy booze or fags on their behalf.
one question here, what happens when they go home smelling of either?

Thats the big question, some parents will sort there offspring out should they become aware they are having either of those 2
but sadly some parents just don't care.
Here lies the problem
18 August 2009
06:5127481Too simple, chaps. As a parent who adheres to the principle of consequences (with overall success, I have to say, despite the usual hiccups!!) it is increasingly challenging to enforce the consequnces when it feels like everywhere else it is a do-as-you-please society where there are no consequences. Home then becomes the "bad" place for those nano-seconds during teenage when parents are The Enemy, and it is vital to keep home as the good place if the communication pathways are to reamin open. Which in turn is vital to prevent further bad behaviour. it is a real tightrope act to keep all those factors together! My kids have had their share of teen-stuff, but have generally come out the other side intact and wiser, but it is not easy, and that is why I would rip the b***s off any one of those adults who peddles drink or drugs to the underage and thinks it is ok. Regardless of the verbal abuse one might get, it is never right to cave in.

18:1627595Tomorrw the three ward Councillors for Buckland have a morrning meeting with the Police Area District Commander.
So hopefully we can start to make progress and try and stop this from happening again, buckland is a nice area and i'm sure people donn't wish to see it ruined by a few.
