I can never understand that argument as flats have concrete bases several inches/mm deep which if necessary could be even thicker than normal.

2011, back to square one though isn't it?

I would suggest this is a better place for the site for the people hoping to use the old Buckland Bridge toilets (can't remember their title). Just take it over, I'm sure the current owners aren't bothered.

Who's responsibility is to clean River Dour along the stretch from Buckland Bridge past the Bull?
Noticed last night bin bags and other rubbish just sitting on the surface where there the the river's full of plant-life and nothing on the surface moves.

Going from memory litter is the responsibility of DDC although WCCP volunteers do a monthly clean outside of spawning season and the Environment Agency are responsible for the vegetation.

Hi. I'm STEVE im new to this forum. I have information that the whitecliffes walk along the river dour this Saturday have accepted my offer to include the section upstream of Lorne road. Up until now it's not been open to the public but it is my intention to open it more often. We have started clearing the undergrowth and removed around a trailer of rubbish from the river itself (bottles etc) it is work in progress but it's a lovely part of the river. If anyone on here does go on Saturday I would like to hear what you think. Also if you have any old photos of that area i would love to see them. I won't be there Saturday but Andy will be opening the area up for visitors around 2.30

Hi Steve. I would love to see this part of the river. Do I have to join the walk or could I wander along under my own steam? Where exactly is the access point? Thank you very much for arranging this access and posting here.

Hi . I'm so sorry the river Dour Walk didn't have access to the private piece of the river last weekend. I had a famy emergency and couldn't make it. I understand there is another walk planned for 25th August. The entrance is in Lorne road between the breakwater micro brewery and the river. It is only accessable on these organised walks at present.

Would be good to see more access to the river.
Unfortunately the council allowed those new Lorne Road houses and the London Fancy Box site to be built on without allowing access to entend the Dour Path. Another wasted opportunity.
Remains to be seen if the Buckland Mill site opens up the river as in the original plans.

Does anyone know the owner of the old scrap yard in Cherry Tree, and what the building restriction are? Or where I could find out this info?

The owner is I believe Marquis Homes Ltd (10-12 Wrotham Road, Gravesend DA11 0PE) per title No K731363 (as at 11/11/17)
They stated to the Land Registry that they paid £220,000 for the land in Sept 2002, the funds being loaned by Lloyds Bank (charge registered 3/9/04)
There are no restrictions on the title deeds, however anyone wishing to build should discuss this with the local planning office - my understanding is that there are concerns over possible ground contamination arising from prior uses, proximity to the river & possible flooding, restricted access from/egress onto Cherry Tree & proximity to Barton School and existing housing. Last time I enquired the planners were minded to oppose any development.

Would make an ideal riverside apartment complex, why would our planners oppose?
Over a hundred houses pour out of Balfour plus rat runners so that would be nonsense!

I once got stuck behind a dustcart in Balfour Rd for nearly an hour while taking a shortcut to Aldi. Never again!

The site will stay a derelict eyesore forever unless the Council steps in and forces the developer to do something/anything.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about possibly putting in an offer for it, but it will probably be too expensive considering what they paid for it.

Lily do you mind telling us what your plans for the site would be?
