Just received this amendment to the Coombe Valley Road closure:
Advance Notice - Closures - Coombe Valley Road, Dover - 4-7 March 2013
It will be necessary to close Coombe Valley Road, Dover from 4 March 2013 for up to 4 days between 8.00am and 7.00pm each day.
The road will be closed from the junction with the A256 London Road to just north of Buckland Hospital (no.110 Coombe Valley Road).
The alternative routes are
Westbound via A256 London Road, Crabble Hill, Crabble Road, Crabble Avenue, Hillside Road, Bunkers Hill Road, St Radigund's Road and Barwick Road
Eastbound via Barwick Road, St Radigund's Road, Bunkers Hill Road, Hillside Road, Crabble Avenue, Crabble Road, A256 Crabble Hill, London Road, Buckland Avenue, Cherry Tree Avenue and London Road
The closures are to enable Kent County Council to carry out carriageway repairs and resurfacing.
These works are weather dependent, and adverse conditions may delay their progress or prevent them going ahead on the planned dates.
If there is a need for a postponement, revised dates will be notified locally and signposted on site.

I noticed that there were lines painted in the road where the digging is. It looked to me that the pavements were going to be being widened?
Presumably in advance of the road being re-surfaced next month (as per post 15)

The Coombe Valley Road closure, could be awkward for people going there for their Haemo-dialysis, especially for those relying on patient transport, so I've sent them the details for them to pass on.

#22,to do with the new cycle/pedestrian path,steming from ladywell,the path olong the river by the college.now have started digging up pencester gardens along the riverside path,source kcc person.
pencester road works will start in a couple of weeks overnight and weekends,same sourse as above.

Re-scheduled Overnight Closures - Pencester Road, Dover - now from 18 March 2013
Effect on Bus Services
The closures of Pencester Road, Dover have now been postponed until Monday 18th March 2013 for up to 5 nights.
Closures will be from 6.00 pm until midnight each night.
The closures were due to have been this week, but have been re-scheduled due to the adverse weather. The road will be closed for its entire length.
The alternative route is via A256 Maison Dieu Road, Woolcomber Street, A20 Townwall Street and York Street.
Pencester Road is the terminus for Dover bus routes, and included below and attached are details we have been provided from Stagecoach detailing the effects on bus services.

Buses will have to divert as follows :
All 60/61 town services will divert along Maison Dieu Road, Castle Street, York Street and into Priory Street serving all bus stops en route including York Street layby (this is for passengers requiring Folkestone as these buses will be departing from here only).
All services due to commence service at Pencester should commence service at Priory Street.
All services due to terminate at Pencester will terminate at Taswell Street bus stop.
All 15 through services will divert along Maison Dieu Road, Castle Street, York Street and into Priory Street serving all bus stops en route including York Street layby (this is for passengers requiring Folkestone as these buses will be departing from here only).
The 18:10 and 19:10 15s to London Road will NOT serve Priory Street.
The 18:16 15 (connection) will connect at Taswell Street bus stop and continue route from here, NOT serving Ladywell.
The 20:45, 21:45 (after leaving docks), 22:55 15s to Canterbury should start at Priory Street and continue route.
All services due to terminate at Pencester will terminate at Taswell Street bus stop.
89 services. The 18:43, 19:43 and 21:57 services from Dover to Elvington should commence service at York Street layby and then serve Priory Street and continue route.
All services due to terminate at Pencester will terminate at Taswell Street bus stop.
101/102 Folkestone services. On approaching the roundabout at the bottom on Folkestone Road, you should turn right along York Street to the roundabout at its junction with Townwall Street where you should go around and back up York Street stopping in the layby bus stop just before the Folkestone Road roundabout. From here, buses should continue route up Folkestone Road as normal, not serving Priory Street.

Just had this notification in:
Urgent Road Closure - Beaconsfield Road, Dover - 10 April 2013 (Dover)
It will be necessary to close Beaconsfield Road, Dover from 10 April 2013 for up to 3 days.
It is planned that the road will be closed between 07:30 and 15:30. The road will be closed between the junctions of London Road and Balfour Road.
The alternative route northbound is via London Road, Cherry Tree Avenue, Barton Road and Beaconsfield Avenue. Southbound via Beaconsfield Avenue, Barton Road, Frith Road, Bridge Street and London Road.
This is to enable urgent highway repairs to be carried out by Kent County Council.

just a remider,a ruddy great hole has appeard in pencester road today,its near the shoe shop.somthing to do with the sewers.

they turnd up this morning at 9 am,and by 2pm there was a 2x1 meter deep hole.all fencend of course.might evan slow the boy racers,hopefully one will end up down the hole,fingers crossed.

There's now a sign on Maison Dieu Road before Five Ways saying that the road will be closed. Couldn't read details as I was driving!

At least the work is being done before the new road surface goes down, normally roads get dug up a short time after the new surface has been done.

there are no remote corners of the empire as far as kent highways are concerned.
next tuesday the 14th of may belgrave road will be closed to traffic between 7. 30 am and 4. 30 pm whilst expensive repairs are made to the road surface.
