2 February 2009 02:3614507I had a phone call today from a Greek seaman friend of mine who had just docked in Europort(Rotterdam) with 170,000 tons of coal from Indonesia. It took 14 hours to load, 40 days at sea and he expects 3 days to unload then over to Brazil to load iron ore for China and then coal back again from Indonesia to Europe.
I cannot see St.Margarets Pit being viable with all these imports taking place.

I like your enthusiasm, but I bet its running on imported coal, like most of the steel works and power stations.
Coal is burnt to produce power at the rate of 33% in England and 40% Worldwide.

Thank you for that you put it better than me,I was talking to our M.P. this morning about it, he told me there is at this time a working party up and runing and dealing and looking at what you have just said, so lets just hope they come up with a working plan and can move forward with it soon.
