20:0634486The rate bill is set by a number of agencies. The largest part is DDC but there are also charges for Police, KCC etc. and a smaller percentage for DTC (only for Dover residents - others pay to their parish or Town councils). In real terms if DTC do put up their share of the total bill by raising their precept it will amount to something like a pound a month extra on our bills. This would be on a 20% increase, a 4.95% increase by DDC will be larger because theirs is a much larger share of the total bill. Once the bills are set they are collected by DDC then divided amongst the various agencies - hence some of the confussion.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

20:2934490Chris surely the largest part is KCC, DDC only get about 10% KCC get over 70%
Police get about 10% Fire and rescue 5% and Town Council 5% all rounding off to 5%
Last years increases KCC +2.4% Kent Police +5.0 % DDC +4.9 %Fire and rescue +3.5% Dover Town Council +0.4%
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

15:0934523Quite right. I was trying to make it clear that DDC are the collection agency rather than the sole setters of the rates.
